Happy July 4th - Don't forget to thank a Frechman!!!

The American Revolution could not have succeeded without French money, guns, ships, and soldiers.

Yes, but the US history impaired know nothing but the date, the flag, and Washington's name.

Oh shit-----celebrate America---that great American Benjamin Franklin talked them into helping.

How about if we celebrate actual American history instead of some made up bullshit.

Ben Franklins influence on France was very real----google it yourself---I'm getting ready the celebrate America

Which changes what? How does that diminish the importance of France in the American Revolution?

It doesn't. It was just a great American who elicited their help. I sorta think today belongs to America tho. We've fought to keep it here.

The French saw an opportunity to poke their rival (Britain) in the eye, and took it. Not complicated.

The french surrender monkey's need to thank us for giving them back their country twice after we beat the germans in WWI and WWII ..

Beating the Germans in WW II was a unified effort. If you wanted to assign credit to only one nation for beating Germany, though, it would be the USSR, not the USA.

So would should despise them for their aid because they didn't have to stab an ally in the back to do it?

You know Elizabeth II would be on all our coins otherwise.

I don't recall any Russian soldiers fighting in France during either war.

It was the Americans, with some help from the British, that drove the Germans out of France in both wars. ..

I don't recall saying the Russians ever made it to France. Though I find it interesting you've discounted the Canadian's effort at Normandy.

The Germans had actually not taken over the entirety of France in WW I - thanks to the British - who gave much of a generation for the effort.

And further - without the heroic efforts of the British before the U.S. entered WW II - the trip to Normandy would have been a lot longer than a hop across the English channel.

I am not here to debate both of the World Wars with you.......that's for another thread.

That being said, America has done a million times more for the French; than the French ever did for America. ..

The French more or less gave us the Louisiana territory. Even then - 3 mil for that much land was a pittance. That was 100 years worth of westward expansion in one deal

France didn't give the U.S. anything. It was a business transaction and France badly needed the money. And 3 million was a huge chunk of change in that day. ..
