Yeah, kind of sad that you guys want to enjoy that time white people were kind of a scourge on the rest of the world... and you wonder why white folks are hated.
Which shows how little you know.

Whites were not innocent and no saints but there was a much more awdul scourge called Islam which was one of the motives for Columbus to make his journey.

Big words from someone with modern knowledge and access to modern data.

Back then it was a huge risk sailing that direction, because others who went before him never came back, or turned back before they found anything.
You sound like an idiot. He wasn't even the first euriopean to make it to the americas.

he was the one that brought enough information back to begin the permanent colonization of the "New World"

The Viking settlements all failed, and left scant written evidence of them occurring. What we know about it is from the archeological digs and vague references to a land to the West.
The americas were already populated. What are you talking about? Columbus never even knew he had "discovered" a new continent.

They were populated, but the concept of discovery is of course from a European (and by proxy Oriental) perspective.

It doesn't matter his original thought on what he found, what matters is he led the first group that found the "New World" and opened it up to exploration and exploitation by the "Old World"
But thats false. He didnt lead the first group of anything. Leif Ericsson was the first european to hit the americas and prior to that the Mali empire from Africa.
You ignored the rest.

No he was not the first but yes he was the first to begin the immigration of Europeans into the Americas.

There were many before him but they did nothing or little about their discovery.

As one historian put it he was not the first to discover the Americas he was the first to discover them and hold a press conference.

Can anyone imagine what the world would be like if no one had discovered North and South America?

We know you hate yourself Joe.
Time to leave now, you're just here to ridicule and sow discord.

European colonization and its consequences are somewhat like "gay pride", there is something that exists that can be recognized, but pride has nothing to do with it.
Yes, the Europeans acted as barbarically as any humans in history ever have. Yes, the people they discovered were often barbaric. The weak received harsh treatment from the strong. It happened. Europeans have nothing to be proud about in the story.

Those are real sources. Its not up to me to force you to believe it. Thats something you are going to have to come to terms with yourself.

No, those are biased idiots with an axe to grind.
If you say so. :itsok:

Run away little girl, run away.

Did the Chinese Discover America?

The evidence for that is even less than the African theory.

Perhaps. I just like the theories. I can't believe there was NO contact between the Eastern and Western Hemispheres.

With the Pacific, it was a question of distances. With the Atlantic, it was a question of often very rough seas.

If one looks at the models of the boats columbus took across the Atlantic, they weren't very big.

True. But, with evidence like this, there's possibilities. In the news: DNA tests show Sican culture in Peru genetically linked to Ainu people, along with populations of Siberia and Taiwan

From the article:

The above article suggests genetic links between the Ainu and the ancient Peruvians, however, the one is not necessarily derived from the other, more likely, the two cultures had common ancestry, see below:

Since the Native Americans probably migrated from Siberia a common ancestor is probably the more logical explanation.

What Europeans did to the natives is nothing different from what they did to each other, except the Europeans had better weapons and military science.

Um, no, the Europeans were not genociding each other in 1500...

Nice try, though.

Met any Aztecs lately? Oh, that's right, you haven't, because the Europeans killed them all.

They were conquering and exploiting each other. That's what happened in the new world, except one side had shitty technology.

Actually you do meet the descendants of the Aztecs, as the Spanish had little qualms with breeding with those they conquered.

By your logic you don't meet any Celts, or Pictins, or Visgoths either anymore.

I'm proud that we brought western culture to this hemisphere, and put in motion an incredible positive run.

It doesn't matter who actually came first, the point is this is the day we choose to celebrate our European greatness ! Have a happy celebration !
Why did you name it after a bumbling fool and genocidal maniac like columbus instead of Leif Ericsson?

You'll have to ask my ancestors, they apparently like Chris better.
No need to ask your ancestors. I already know the reason. Leif was ran off the continent. Columbus and his genocide made your ancestors feel like big men.

They were big men, they had the superior technology of the day that allowed them to defeat inferior cultures.
No. They were just dirty disease infested men. The old world diseases killed off 90% of the NA's because they had no immunity. Softened them up for you.

columbus day is just another day white boys made up to sooth their fragile egos. This idiot thought he was in India.

Not at first but by the time he made his last crossing he knew his mistake.
Thats not what his own journals ever reveal.

If not for Islam europe would still be in the Dark Ages. The Moors came over and started a reeducation program because whites were afraid to take baths because they thought water contained evil spirits. The messed up thing was that they were actually proud of smelling like wild animals after a fucking spree.

Yeah, that's the breaks.

It is on fact.

His fourth and last voyage he tried to cross to the Pacific probably where Panama is today.

Show us your citation that he knew he had discovered what to him was a new land mass. I am open to new information.

The Moors visciously and brutally conquered and enslaved Europeans for centuries. The notion of whites not bathing is nonsense

Hmmmm.......funny how advanced they were and yet how backward they are now......the myth of muslim advances is just that, a myth...they robbed and plundered cultures with the sciences and then drove them into barbarism...that is why they are so backward today...while the West has made the world a better place.

Bullshit. When the Moors controlled europe thats the only time in history up until that point that there was religious tolerance. Christians and Muslims worshiped without any problems. Its a documented fact that whites bathed as little as possible because they were afraid water had evil spirits. Hell Isabella bragged she had only taken a bath twice in her entire life.
