Hakeem Jeffries Threatens to Shut Down Federal Gov't

That's mutually exclusive.
If they would vote for Trumps budget as dictated to Speaker Johnson, they aren't sane DEMs.
So no sane DEMs would be voting for the budget as any DEMs voting for the budget is by definition not sane.
WW
The story I heard is that the Republicans are ALL onboard with the Big Beautiful Bill, even the Freedom Caucus deficit hawks, because there is a provision to reduce the tax cuts if the spending cuts or revenue doesn't hit the goals.

So Hakeem is only right if any House Republicans bail on the Bill.

"Hakeem Jeffries: GOP Budget a ‘Non-Starter,’ Every Single Democrat Will Oppose It

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) claimed Sunday on ABC’s “This Week” that the Republican budget was a “non-starter” and would receive opposition from every Democratic lawmaker.

Host Jonathan Karl said, “Government funding runs out in less than a month now. We’ve seen over the past two years, Republicans cannot or have not been able to pass government funding without Democratic support. Some of your supporters on the outside are saying you should use as leverage, the possibility of a government shutdown to push back at some of what the Trump administration is doing right now. What will you need from Mike Johnson and from the Republicans to agree to go along with efforts to fund the government?”

He added, “What we have been clear about is that this budget that is working its way through the House of Representatives is a non-starter. Every single Democrat opposed it a few days ago, and I believe that will continue to be our position because it’s out of control.”"

Why does this Democrat want to shutdown the federal gov't? I thought they think a closed federal gov't endangers the people who depend on the govt.
Republicans will probably oppose it also, if history is a guide. And when isn’t it?

It’s an old tradition, the pres sends his budget, both sides of the aisle see that their pork is not in it, and reject it.

Why should the pres get all the pork?

We're $36 trillion in debt. Let's laugh about how funny that is.
We're never going to solve the debt problem with our convicted felon POTUS and his South African boss stealing money from programs average Americans rely on to finance enormous tax cuts for his club of wealthy elites.

Tick-tock, the Repubs only have until 3/14 or the government is shut down.

The House votes on it the last week of Feb

Then it goes to "conference" where the House & Senate Bills are combined, then they both have to vote on the same Bill.

Its going to be a nail-biter.

He didnt. He is still a 100% democrat fag.
fail test 2.webp

You don’t think that it will be the Democrats who try some dramatic shut down the government if we don’t get our way move?

Do you see some big sticking point between congressional Republicans and Senate Republicans that would prevent them from coming up with a continuing resolution or budget deal?

What move can the democrats pull? Unless they keep pulling fire alarms again.

Trump supports the House Bill because it has the tax cuts. The Senate Bill is as you say the "break glass" version to keep the government running. The only hurdle is the "Freedom Caucus" of deficit hawks, but they seem to be on board.

Good, very good! My, how the worm turns-)

I was thinking of a filibuster to get Trump to promise to stop being king of the Nazi dictators, or whatever.

If libs are threatening to shut it down, the liberal media will rejoice and applaud.
How could "libs" do anything? Republicans own all 3 branches of government. If Republicans can't produce a workable bill that Dems will support then Republicans own that dysfunction.
Because Republicans own all 3 branches of government now ALL future dysfunction and failure is solely owned by them (and Musk/Trump).
That's what really sucks about all this "winning." That's only half of it.
Now they've got to govern.
