Gun Violence Is Killing More Kids in the U.S. Than COVID-19. BLM says no more cops

s millions of American children celebrated July 4 by viewing fireworks and having their imaginations sparked for a brighter future ā€“ at least six of our nationā€™s children were shot and killed by stray bullets, including 7-year-old Natalia Wallace, who was shot in the forehead as she played in her grandmotherā€™s yard. This past Sunday, 1-year-old Davell Gardner Jr. was shot and killed in New York City while sitting in his stroller at a family cookout. Day in and day out, we justifiably discuss COVID-19 and the risks of reopening schools for our children, but we canā€™t even seem to guarantee that our children wonā€™t be shot and killed while playing with friends or sleeping soundly in their beds.

Unfortunately, similar to the politicization of COVID-19, we continue to make gun violence a political issue rather than a public health one, which if we have learned anything from this current pandemic, portends a dire outlook for the future.

Nowadays, the chances that your child will die from COVID-19 remains a real but very low threat; however, in many parts of the country, the threat of being killed by a firearm is a much bigger concern. And the spike in gun violence that we witnessed this month goes far beyond kids, with 65 people shot in New York City over that weekend and 87 people shot in Chicago, not to mention shocking numbers of firearm homicides countrywide. These grim statistics come as a stark reminder, as if another reminder were needed, that gun violence remains our nationā€™s most dire and most frequently ignored public health epidemic. We canā€™t afford to ignore it any longer.

If the democrat party would stop releasing violent gun criminals from jail and prison, we could stop these shootings. But you can't push gun control if people aren't getting shot. Since normal Americans don't use their legal guns for crime and murder...who else is going to do the killing the democrats need to push gun control?

Gun control laws would all but eliminate such deaths. No other first world country has 1000 children shot and killed every year - either from stray bullets, or accidental shootings. No other country in the world sends their children to school with bullet proof back packs.

But guns aren't the problem. If any idiot who wants one couldn't buy a gun, none of this would be happening. You have no one but yourselves to blame, since you refuse to vote for gun control.

We don't have 1000 children shot and killed each year.........

https://crimeresearch.org/wp-conten...ack-of-Public-Health-Research-on-Firearms.pdf

The vast majority of these ā€œchildrenā€ are actually young adults. These are not little kids who accidentally hurt themselves by firing their parentsā€™ gun. Consider these facts: ā€¢ 76% of these injured ā€œchildrenā€ were 17, 18, or 19 years old. ā€¢ 62% of injuries were the result of criminal assaults. ā€¢ The injuries are overwhelmingly concentrated in large, urban areas

Guns are not the issue...the democrat party releasing repeat, known, violent gun offenders is the problem...if we could stop the democrat party from releasing these gun criminals over and over again, we would reduce gun murder by about 95%.

We have gun control you dumb fuck.......but when the police actually capture a violent gun criminal.......the democrat party prosecutors drop the gun charges.....the democrat party judges let them out on bail......now "no-cash" bail, and on ankle monitoring.....and then they go out and shoot people......and the democrat party politicians keep lowering the sentences for gun crime for repeat offenders...

We don't have a gun problem.....we have 600 million guns in private hands...we have over 19.4 million Americans legally carrying gun in public for self defense......

1.1 million Americans a year use their legal guns to stop rapes, beatings, stabbings, robberies and murders......

What we have is a political party that will not keep violent criminals in prison....they keep letting them out...it is this tiny number of violent monsters doing 95% of all of our shootings in democrat controlled cities...

You guys don't want to address the real problem...you simply have an irrational, psychotic fear of guns.

I'll ask you.....

Why do the judges, prosecutors and politicians of the democrat party keep releasing repeat gun offenders?

Can you answer this question....?

If you answer this question it would be a first, because anti-gun extremists refuse to address the problem of the democrat party releasing violent gun offenders while calling for more gun control....

Frankly, I think we need to lockdown these leftwing run cities where this epidemic is running wild. Close down Chicago, NYC, Baltimore....just lock them down

YOU DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING THAT APPROACHES "GUN CONTROL" IN THE USA. YOU HAVE A SECOND AMENDMENT WHICH ENSURE THE "RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS". YOU HAVE MORE GUNS THAN PEOPLE IN THE USA.

Last year gun ownership increased nationwide from 32% of American households, to 39% of American households, as fear and paranoia gripped the American population in the pandemic. This year the rates of violent crime and homicide are skyrocketing. Coincidence? I think not. More guns leads to more gun crime and more murders.

The increases in violent crime and murder aren't happening in any other first world country. You continue to deny guns are the real problem, but every statistic on crime and homicide in the first world makes a liar out of you.

You are an idiot.........guns do not cause gun crime....27 years of history in America shows this.....

Over the last 27 years, we went from 200 million guns in private hands in the 1990s and 4.7 million people carrying guns for self defense in 1997...to close to 400-600 million guns in private hands and over 19.4 million people carrying guns for self defense in 2019...guess what happened...

New Concealed Carry Report For 2020: 19.48 Million Permit Holders, 820,000 More Than Last Year despite many states shutting down issuing permits because of the Coronavirus - Crime Prevention Research Center

-- gun murder down 49%

--gun crime down 75%

--violent crime down 72%

Gun Homicide Rate Down 49% Since 1993 Peak; Public Unaware

Compared with 1993, the peak of U.S. gun homicides, the firearm homicide rate was 49% lower in 2010, and there were fewer deaths, even though the nationā€™s population grew. The victimization rate for other violent crimes with a firearmā€”assaults, robberies and sex crimesā€”was 75% lower in 2011 than in 1993. Violent non-fatal crime victimization overall (with or without a firearm) also is down markedly (72%) over two decades.

This means that access to guns does not create gun crime........

Why do our democrat party controlled cities have gun crime problems?

1) the democrat party keeps releasing violent gun offenders...they have created a revolving door for criminals who use guns, and will release even the most serious gun offenders over and over again....why? Probably because they realise that normal people don't use their guns for crime, so if they want to push gun control, they need criminals to shoot people.....so they keep releasing them....

2) The democrat party keeps attacking the police.....driving the officers into not doing pro-active policing, cutting detective forces so that murders go unsolved..........

Violence is increasing across those countries that support left wing stupidity......when they decide that criminals on the street is better than criminals in jail.

You are an idiot...

Violent crime recorded by police in England and Wales has risen by 19% in a year, latest Home Office figures show.
The number of homicides - including murder and manslaughter - rose from 649 to 739, an increase of 14%, in the 12 months to the end of September 2018.
It is the the highest total for such crimes since 2007.
Robbery went up by 17%, as did recorded sexual offences, according to the data released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
Overall crimes recorded by police went up by 7% with a total of 5,723,182 offences recorded.

Gun crime in Swede....you idiot....

Sweden is the only European country where fatal shootings have risen significantly since 2000, leaping from one of the lowest rates of gun violence on the continent to one of the highest in less than a decade, a report has found.

The report, by the Swedish national council for crime prevention (BRA), said the Scandinavian country had overtaken Italy and eastern European countries primarily because of the violent activities of organised criminal gangs.

Defund the police. THat is the issue today. They just murder random people. No cops and the cities will be safe.

The issue today is the lies Republicans tell. One of the lies Republicans tell is ā€œdefund the policeā€.

Dishonesty is all that Republicans have.
huh? The GOP hasn't said anything about defund the police...other then voicing their opposition to the leftwing movement.

Here is a quick video of all the times the dems pushed the "defund the police movement"

The democrat party spends an entire year saying the words "Defund the Police." Then, when crime spikes, and murders go up...all of a sudden, they tell us they didn't say "defund the police," that was the republicans........

It is amazing the lying they will do because they know the democrat party controlled press will simply cover for them...

It's just like their Jim Crow narrative now....trying to project their years of oppression and racism on to others...it's sad really

Frankly, I think we need to lockdown these leftwing run cities where this epidemic is running wild. Close down Chicago, NYC, Baltimore....just lock them down

The epidemic isn't running wild in New York, Chicago but it is in Baltimore - Republican governor.

The epidemic IS running wild in

s millions of American children celebrated July 4 by viewing fireworks and having their imaginations sparked for a brighter future ā€“ at least six of our nationā€™s children were shot and killed by stray bullets, including 7-year-old Natalia Wallace, who was shot in the forehead as she played in her grandmotherā€™s yard.

100% of nothing is still nothing.

Yeah, Sweden went from 0.8 deaths per 100,000 of population to 1.6 deaths per million of population in 10 years. But of those 1.6 deaths per 100,000 of population, 1.23 of those deaths were suicides. The murder rate per 100,000 is 0.32%. Total deaths per year: 160, nearly 3/4 of which were suicides.

The murder rate went from 1/12 of a person per 100,000 to 1/6 of a person per 100,000. The murder rate in the USA is 14 times that of Sweden.

To put these statistics into context, the death by gun violence rate in the USA is 12.21 deaths per 100,000, the murder rate in the USA is 4.46 per 100,000, and the suicide rate is 7.32. Total deaths per year, more than 40,000 people.

And you lie, and include suicides......why do you shitheads feel the need to lie with every post?

Americans use their legal guns 1.1 million times a year to save lives...you idiot....from rape, robbery and murder.

The Truth that you refuse to even consider is that if the democrat party stopped releasing violent gun offenders then our gun crime and gun murder rate would go down 95%.......it is their policies, not guns, not normal gun owners, driving our gun crime and gun murder in cities controlled by the democrat party.

600 million guns in private hands......over 19.4 million Americans can carry guns legally in public for self defense.........

Gun deaths...the truth....

2019...

Gun murder...10,235

Gun accidents...486

Of the gun murder deaths....over 70-80% of the victims are not regular Americans....they are criminals...murdered by other criminals in primarily democrat party controlled cities....where the democrat party judges, prosecutors and politicians have released them over and over again no matter how many times they are arrested for felony, illegal gun possession and violent crimes with guns...that's on you and your political party...not normal gun owners.

Gun suicides... 23,491...

Broker Version 9.4 (Build 1366)

Expanded Homicide Data Table 8

Americans use their legal guns 1.1 million times a year to stop brutal rapes, robberies, beatings, knifings, murders......according to the Centers for Disease Control, and 1.5 million times according to the Department of Justice.

Lives saved....based on research? By law abiding gun owners using guns to stop criminals?

Case Closed: Kleck Is Still Correct

that makes for at least 176,000 lives savedā€”

Money saved from people not being beaten, raped, murdered, robbed?.......

So figuring that the average DGU saves one half of a personā€™s lifeā€”as ā€œgun violenceā€ predominantly affects younger demographicsā€”that gives us $3.465 million per half life.

Putting this all together, we find that the monetary benefit of guns (by way of DGUs) is roughly $1.02 trillion per year. Thatā€™s trillion. With a ā€˜Tā€™.
------

was going to go on and calculate the costs of incarceration ($50K/year) saved by people killing 1527 criminals annually, and then look at the lifetime cost to society of an average criminal (something in excess of $1 million). But all of that would be a drop in the bucket compared to the $1,000,000,000,000 ($1T) annual benefit of gun ownership.

When compared to the (inflation adjusted from 2002) $127.5 billion ā€˜costā€™ of gun violence calculated by by our Ludwig-Cook buddies, guns save a little more than eight times what they ā€œcost.ā€

Which, I might add, is completely irrelevant since ā€œthe freedom to own and carry the weapon of your choice is a natural, fundamental, and inalienable human, individual, civil, and Constitutional right ā€” subject neither to the democratic process nor to arguments grounded in social utility.ā€

So even taking Motherboardā€™s own total and multiplying it by 100, the benefits to society of civilian gun ownership dwarf the associated costs.
