Hardly. Washington has always been a left leaning state. The last time Washington elected a republican governor was 30 years ago. The last time Washington's electoral votes went to a republican president was 30 years ago. All but one major state office is held by a democrat.


Even the republican politicians lean left. For example the republican who ran for the US House in the second district is pro choice, he also agreed with the background check initiative. I talked to him a couple weeks ago. I'm in the second district and talk to as many candidates as possible. I told the man that he was going to lose and asked him why he wasn't a democrat. His wife is. He said he was probably going to switch parties when the election is over.

He lost big time. He only got around 30% of the vote.

If the progressives in Washington were communist then all business and property would have been confiscated by the state. The state would own all business and the profits would be property of the state. All land and buildings would have been confiscated by the state. No one would own their home and they would be paying the government rent to live there. All farms would have been confiscated. They would have been turned into collective farms and be property of the state with all profits being the property of the state.

Microsoft, Boeing, Costco, Nordstrom, Nintendo, REI and a long list of other companies would now be owned by the state.

There would be no stock brokers or hedge fund owners either. The companies here wouldn't be listed on the NY stock exchange or Nasdaq.

What I do agree with is that to make sure that a criminal doesn't get a gun a proper background check is required.
