The Greenpeace report offers a wealth of statistics and an admirably succinct diagnosis: “Mechanical and chemical recycling of plastic waste has largely failed and will always fail because plastic waste is: (1) extremely difficult to collect, (2) virtually impossible to sort for recycling, (3) environmentally harmful to reprocess, (4) often made of and contaminated by toxic materials, and (5) not economical to recycle.” Greenpeace could have added a sixth reason: forcing people to sort and rinse their plastic garbage is a waste of everyone’s time. But then, making life more pleasant for humans has never been high on the green agenda..."

We have long recycled our plastic. Seems to be working fine. The place we take it to continues to take it.

Doesn't matter how much recycling is done.
People are pigs. It's unreal how much garbage is collected from the highways and rivers by volunteers every year. It's staggering.

We get urban pigs who come out along rural roads and dump waste like televisions, electronics, mattresses, tires...you name it.

And how many years or decades did it take these environmentalist “experts” to figure this out? And how much time and money has been wasted? It has always been more of a political agenda than something pragmatic. ----------- Almost, but not quite, as insane as Biden and company stopping the pipeline, greatly restricting drilling, permits, fracking, etc., while we become dependent on foreign oil and gas, and diesel fuel shortage is about to cripple our economy. ------ And people continue to vote for these scumbags.

Recycling plastic is ineffective, wasteful, and often counterproductive. It would be much better for the environment - all things considered - to just dump it in landfills.

Which is why the Left will never give it up.

very LITTLE plastic is recycled in the US. It is a waste of time and energy but the left feels so virtuous to fill their time with recycling plastics....which by the way...mostly go into the dump anyway.
