A balanced budget amendment would be a bad idea. Governments need to be able to run deficits in recessions or depressions, in order to get the economy moving again and balance the budgets during the boom years.

Republicans are cutting taxes and increasing the deficits. You don't need a balanced budget amendment, you simply need to stop increasing the deficit in order to cut taxes for rich people.

What exactly is your specific objection with the Fair Share Balanced Budget Amendment?

With the United States now having a debt exceeding $136 Trillion, including unfunded debt liabilities, and annual interest payments of about $1TRILLION, Congress is financially enslaving our children and their expected children.


Congress has broken a sacred trust which our Founders held dearly.
