So on the FIRST DAY that the Congress and Senate come back from vacation, the President wants to schedule a joint session to address them on his new proposed plan for creating jobs in America ASAP.

The President submits the formal request to the Majority Speaker of the House of Representatives....and about 4 hours later is told that ANOTHER time would be more convenient due to "security arrangement" matters and the like.

Since the early 1900's when President's started making actual visits to the House to address them, NO PRESIDENT'S REQUEST HAS EVER BEEN DENIED UNTIL NOW.

Interesting that the very political party that has been wailing for months that they are waiting for the President to present a plan for jobs in America SUDDENLY can't fit the President of the USA in for a quick address.

Now if one is to believe the GOP's favorite pundit Rush Limbaugh, Speaker Boehner rejected the initial request date in order to put Obama "in his place" and not let the President have the upper hand as taking a leadership position....especially since it would coincide with the first scheduled GOP Presidential candidacy debate.

This is just another example to the American people that the GOP is NOT about the general welfare of the people, but about the corporate welfare and secured economic greed of the wealthiest 1 to 3% of the population.

IF it keeps fuckers like you and the people pictured below. You fuckers hide behind the working class and cause nothing but death and destruction. FUCK YOU!

Of course. The conservative GOP representatives have never been about the people. Rather, it's all about the greed. Always has been. On another matter, I've always found it interesting that so-called devout Christians keep backing the greed mongering right-wing republicans, rather than candidates that are totally in favor of the poor and down-trodden. Clearly, they're not real Christians. Jesus would be ashamed of them, of that we can be assured. One thing certain, when their time comes, it's not upward they'll be going.

Well better then backing a system of government that slaughters hundreds of millions of its own people, and works to centralize all the power into the hands of a few.

What better way to help the poor and the worker then to have a healthy and free economy based on freedom. A system that has worked for hundreds of years and made this world 100 times more wealthy everywhere it is tried. It is NOT perfect, but it is the best we have.

MATTHEW....Personally, I'm a Centrist. I believe in elements of both sides. Just not extremes of either.
However, socialism isn't a step toward communism. Most of the European nations are socialist, yet the public is free to vote for whom they please. They can also own property and become rich. It's just that because their governments are socialist in nature, the public has a safety-net, should they need it. I see nothing wrong with ensuring that your people are taken care of. Afterall, they've supported their governments all their lives. Once elderly or unable to do, it is only fair that their government support them.
For the US, I believe in social security and medicare. If you've worked all your life supporting the capitalist system, I don't think it's asking too much for the government to return the favor when you are unable to do so, or having difficulty taking care of yourself. All people in their nation, should have access to health care, nutritious food and a clean, comfortable place to sleep. To not believe so, is to be less than human.

Oh please. Obama and his crew knew damned well there was a GOP presidential campaing debate scheduled LONG in advance of his suggestion to speak before a joint session of Congress.
Can you give a good solid reason why the Congress and the American people would want to through a 45 minute campaign speech under the guise of doing something no one in government can do which is force the private sector to hire people with nothing of substance.
Obama may as well use his time a bit better and go out to try to save his political base.
He's not going to get anywhere if he intends on introducing another federal spending plan.
It's not going to happen.

I assure you, Matthew, The Republicans learned a lesson from the huge white paper delivered to be passed by Democrats in Congress before 2010. It was a horrendous bill, and nobody had time to read and understand everything about it because it was too long and devised by people greedy to micromanage every aspect of people's lives and foist a failed system of micromanagement by the federal government of things only states and districts should finance and govern.

All of us are torn by claims of foul play when it comes to taking care of the health care of children and people in poor families. The only trouble is, the level of poverty today in America includes people who own 3-bedroom homes, 2 cars, 2 color tvs, computers, washer, dryer, refrigerator, stove--people who in the 50s were considered upper middle class.

We need a balance, but it's a mistake for a party to elect only extremists like Obama and Pelosi to guide a party who makes the rules or makes big splashes on the news about the alleged heartless people on the other side of the aisle, which is also not true.

We need to get a grip and stop electing extremists and get back to electing regular people from among us who we think will represent not only us but our country in a way that is beneficent to all Americans.

That's a difficult balance in its best light.

That is the story you are going to stick with? The religious Left?
What is "the greed"?
Totally in favor of the poor and downtrodden.....Totally? Wow...wanna hit off this shit?
Hey genius, if the poor and downtrodden are you thing, why don't you do a little research and discover that about half of the federal budget which is now about $3 trillion is dedicated to social programs....How much more do you welfare state people need to satisfy your appetite?
Here's an idea. If you wish to crusade for the "poor and downtrodden", write a check.
"Charity begins in the home".

Two words..Once concept......Citizen legislature.....Next two words...Term limits.

With respect to jobs, what grabs my attention are numbers. Right now, the numbers are big in oil and natural gas.

As regards taxes and regulations for these particular industries, you tell me who's holding up progress- Democrats or Republicans.

Come on tai/chi you know why Barry scheduled his speech on a particular day. It was a dirty trick that democrats used to get away with back in the days when there was no fair and balanced media and Cronkite was king. Times have changed but democrats seem stuck in the 60's. Anyway it ain't about jobs. Barry had two years with a super majority and couldn't seem to get his act together. Democrats have had a majority in congress for four years including the collapse of Fannie Mae but all they do is whine about the 7 month old 112 Congress. Think about this while you are meditating during your tai/chi class. Government jobs to not grow the economy. They only transfer confiscated taxpayer money from one segment of society to another. The private sector generates money and recently it seems that democrats have become hostile to the concept

Not true. Democrats had a super majority in numbers only. Blue Dogs kept it from being a functional super majority.

And there you have it!!!!!!
Campaigning means infinitely more to the GOP than jobs!!!!!!!!!!!!

DittoTards can't stop themselves from parroting their MessiahRushie's lies. There were only 7 months when the Dems had 60 in their caucus, which included 2 independents one of whom was Lieberman, and ONLY when Kennedy was healthy enough to attend, which was very rarely!!! So in reality the Dems had POTENTIALLY 60 votes from the time Kirk took Kennedy's place until the time Brown was sworn in, just a little over 4 months.

RUSH: Meanwhile, we are supposed to forget the Democrats had supermajorities in both houses of Congress and the White House for most of the last two years
