GOP could care less about jobs!

Our leaders are all employed and well taken care of.

They're about the only people left in the USA whose jobs are not easily shipped off shore or cut due to government roll-backs.

Small wonder the whole issue of jobs isn't big on their agenda.

Now that I can agree on. We the People need to kick BOTH parties in the ass.

I wish.

Their asses are seriously covered from that eventuality, I suspect.

As long as our resident partisans truly believe that it makes a difference whether COKE or PEPSI wins, then the indpendents will continue to decide based on their two essantially meaningless choices.

Forget third parties, our gerrymandered by both parties FOR BOTH PARTIES legislative process virtually insures no third party candidates can ever attain enough momentum to change CONGRESS where the changes really count.

We are captured in the political equivalent of a Kafka novel.

And the roaches in the Kafka novel are entirely too cocky, too.

So on the FIRST DAY that the Congress and Senate come back from vacation, the President wants to schedule a joint session to address them on his new proposed plan for creating jobs in America ASAP.

The President submits the formal request to the Majority Speaker of the House of Representatives....and about 4 hours later is told that ANOTHER time would be more convenient due to "security arrangement" matters and the like.

Since the early 1900's when President's started making actual visits to the House to address them, NO PRESIDENT'S REQUEST HAS EVER BEEN DENIED UNTIL NOW.

Interesting that the very political party that has been wailing for months that they are waiting for the President to present a plan for jobs in America SUDDENLY can't fit the President of the USA in for a quick address.

Now if one is to believe the GOP's favorite pundit Rush Limbaugh, Speaker Boehner rejected the initial request date in order to put Obama "in his place" and not let the President have the upper hand as taking a leadership position....especially since it would coincide with the first scheduled GOP Presidential candidacy debate.

This is just another example to the American people that the GOP is NOT about the general welfare of the people, but about the corporate welfare and secured economic greed of the wealthiest 1 to 3% of the population.

This President has experienced more unprecedented actions by the opposition party than any in history. More cloture's, more filibusters, more blocked appointments and more just plain douchiness than any other. No President had a member of Congress call him a liar on the floor while he was addressing them. No President has ever had the debt ceiling held hostage to ideological demands...and on and on and on.

Not even Bill Clinton, who I thought the right hated with the heat of a thousand white hot suns, had to put up with the kind of crap President Obama has had to put up with.

What is it about this President I wonder?

Suck on this -

Black unemployment rate: Highest since 1984 - Sep. 2, 2011

MATTHEW....Personally, I'm a Centrist. I believe in elements of both sides. Just not extremes of either.
However, socialism isn't a step toward communism. Most of the European nations are socialist, yet the public is free to vote for whom they please. They can also own property and become rich. It's just that because their governments are socialist in nature, the public has a safety-net, should they need it. I see nothing wrong with ensuring that your people are taken care of. Afterall, they've supported their governments all their lives. Once elderly or unable to do, it is only fair that their government support them.
For the US, I believe in social security and medicare. If you've worked all your life supporting the capitalist system, I don't think it's asking too much for the government to return the favor when you are unable to do so, or having difficulty taking care of yourself. All people in their nation, should have access to health care, nutritious food and a clean, comfortable place to sleep. To not believe so, is to be less than human.

1. Social Security is not the governments money, it's not a slush fund. It's the peoples who contributed to it.
2. What happen to the family taking care of the elderly? Remember the parent took care of the children and the children take care of the parent when the parent is unable to take care of them self.

It’s not that the GOP couldn’t care less about jobs pre se, the issue is more of timing: republicans want Americans to go back to work when it’s politically advantageous to them, not Obama.

An intelligent, reasonable, and accurate post – consequently it will be lost on the right.

Citizen legislature...Term limits.

Those already exist: Congress and elections. The mechanics of government work fine, the problem is operator error.

But you're not greedy, of course, when you expect to have a piece of the wealth owned by the top 1 to 3% of the population even though you didn't lift a finger to earn it, right?

1. The top 3% don't pay taxes. Only "little people pay taxes". Even Buffett acknowledges that he pays a lower tax rate than his secretary. Not to mention the off-shore tax shelters and all the tax loop-holes.

Add to that the 14,000 factories they moved overseas whereby the US manufacturing segment went from 28% to 12% taking all those 3m jobs with them. The middle-class has a right to be pissed when the wealthy fuck them over.

As I started reading, I thought this was satire. Then it seemed to turn serious.

It's well written and logically staed, but completely disconnected from reality.

Was it satire?

Why do you suppose the factories moved outside of the control of the EPA, the IRS and the Washington elite? As far as I know, they are still hiring people and paying them money and creating products for sale.

Were the rich doing something bad for the middle class in this migration or was the climate of investment growing bad here and better elsewhere?

Were the rich going out of their way to help the middle class during the 50 years after WW2?

Do you think about this stuff before you write it?

I think that the Big 0 would find that the employers would find it to be politically advantageous to them to re-hire a bunch of folks if the "Boot" was removed from their throat previously placed there by the Obama Administration.

"Elections have consequences, Eric. And I won." -Barack Obama, a/k/a Commandante Zero, explaining why Republicans should vote for his stimulus package.

Growth is back, but not jobs...

Where are the jobs????

Growth is not back. GDP increased by .3%, which is essentially no growth at all. No growth, no jobs. Pretty simple.
All of this is thanks to the policies of this administration and their allies in Congress. No amount of blaming ATMs, Republicans, typhoons in Japan or anything else will change that.

Companies are making record breaking profits and still are not hiring.

Funny thing is, they aren't citing any policies of the Obama administration as the reason...

Can you name any?

Were the rich going out of their way to help the middle class during the 50 years after WW2? Do you think about this stuff before you write it?

1. The factories were moved out of the US because it was apparently more profitable. The US economy lost 3,000,000 manufacturing jobs. You might also say that the economy lost 3,000,000 consumers. The 9.1% unemployment rate says that they are NOT hiring people here in the US.

2. Paying $1.50/hr for labor overseas instead of dealing with Unions and US taxes and regulations. The bad news may come later, when the Chinese take over the world economy. Stupid is as stupid does.

3. The 50-years after WW2 had the US as the leading manufacturing country, and cheap energy with fair regulations. ( the wealthy ever go out of their way for anyone...)

It's taken nearly 3 years for the President to come up with a jobs plan and yet it's the Republicans who could care less? I suppose they could care less. It's the President who couldn't care less.

"And I'm saying it bluntly, that this administration is the greatest wet blanket to business, and progress and job creation in my lifetime....The guy keeps making speeches about redistribution and maybe we ought to do something to businesses that don't invest, their holding too much money. We haven't heard that kind of talk except from pure socialists."

Now a true leader, like the Castro of old, would have frog-marched them all into session.

Which only goes to prove that Our Kenyan President is ineducable.

Keynan?

This is the problem. Right wing racism. They can't even admit he's "American". What a disgrace.
