Good Guys with a gun failed again

Outgunned? You mean the type of gun does matter?
Of course it does & I have never said otherwise.
This ain't Hollywood.
A man with a single shot .22 short has little chance against a man with an AK or 12ga tactical.
An army with muskets couldn't beat a company with artillery & automatic weapons.
Duh?
That's just common sense but I'll excuse you for not knowing this already

Law enforcement arrived with plenty of time to stop this killer. Something stopped them. That is the key to this problem. Why were trained officers unable to stop him. We all know the reason. Those of us who care about childrens lives know for sure. The rest still dodge the obvious answer.
They obviously didn't.

By the time they got inside the shooter had already locked himself in the classroom. The shooter was not engaged outside of the building

law enforcement has a lot of ways to get into a room. There were a lot of reasons including shooting that the school would have been in lockdown. I would think the shooter had to break into that classroom.
Apparently he just walked in! And locked the door behind him. Speed happened in this incident. The surprise factor.

And they didn't have a lot of ways to get into that room because of the cinderblock wall construction and strong door.

I do wonder if the room had windows. Remember the Virginia Tech mass murder by that Korean crazy where a prof held the door while he told all the kids to get out the windows? The prof was shot and killed for it, too. What a hero.

I wonder if the room was windowless in this school. What a lot we don't know.

He was 18 and just bought his guns 2 weeks ago. How trained could he be?
Having played with toys gun, and shot BB guns, I was a crack shot the first time I picked up a real gun (at age 12). Shooting a gun is instinctive to boys. By "training" most think safe gun handling.

How much shooting experience does one need to kill kids at point blank range.

He was engaged by a school resource officer and 2 regular officers. How did they fail to stop him?
Because like a good progressive city officer, they probably were taught to not fire because they didnt want to be called racist, sexist, homophobe, etc.... When you castrate the police they wont do a good job. Thank Joe Biden for this is his America..

Share the number of mass shootings they have had compared to us. I said they don't have this problem. You said they do, prove it. How many this year vs us?
Mass shootings (a made-up term that has the very lowest bar to achieve) are NOT the only metrics of how civil a society is.

Address the mental health issues. Address the teaching of hatred we see nightly on our news channels, in our classrooms, on our streets, in our social media.

The children are watching and learning.

What they are learning is that hatred is okay. Frothing at the mouth, rabid behavior is okay.

It is okay to stand before a camera and video yourself attacking people. It is okay for armed gangs of people to run around and attack protestors. It is okay to burn buildings and kill when you don't get your way.

It is EVERYWHERE in America.

It is okay to hate, in America.

I answered and I noticed you have no response.

i was referring to the one that stopped him dead

but yes 100s of good guys with a gun stopped him
Good point: without a large officer presence he could have come out and shot many more. Probably would have: these crazies love a large body count. I've read it's a sort of competition for reputation. After death, but still.

The police aren't tasked to prevent crime. Their job is to investigate the crime scene and apprehend the perp. Crime prevention is the duty of the community at large by creating and supporting an environment conducive to peace and good will.

Once apprehended it is the job of the legislature and the courts to ensure the perps are no longer a threat to society.
And the only way to make sure they are no longer a threat is.....

Great post. I think you are completely right, and I think it's a serious and probably fatal degradation of our culture on the way to civil war.

Hollywood and video games are part of the rush to violence: and I speak as a long-time video gamer who LOVES a good battle engine, and a film buff who doesn't mind a lot of violence. But it's definitely made me meaner, I suspect.

I'd been reading bits and pieces of that information and i am appalled. They sound as bad as those cops that allowed that florida shooting things with that cruz kid. That gunman was in there for an hour??? shooting kids??? Where are the damn officers to stop that? In the movies?
What were the exact circumstances of those encounters? At what range? How were the officers armed? Did they have clear shots at him?

the cops wouldn't do it and they wouldn't allow the parents. I would dare say that some of those officers and their families are going to have to leave the area.
Wow. That's bad.

Well, why didn't they, then? Why didn't some of those big-talking dads organize a rush on the doors and just hope the cops wouldn't shoot THEM in the back? Instead, they yell at the police to run in there and take whatever bullets are flying? Darn.

I'm guessing the police talked them out of it by telling them the situation was under control, which by then it probably was, with no one left alive in that classroom but the shooter, who couldn't get out.

The pushed the dads involved down on the ground and held them there. Does that answer your question.

Outgunned? You mean the type of gun does matter?
You can't walk around an elementary school with a big scary gun. Sorry, you'll just have to make due with your handgun.
So officers failed to stop him and you think teachers would? That's not their job. I'm sure the teachers would have been outgunned also right?
See my thread on arming teachers.

For all we know it was over by then and they were just trying to keep the parents from rushing into to a scene they could not mentally handle and of course if they did so they'd corrupt the evidence.

When it's a life or death situation, you can bet that most cops are gonna be protecting their own asses. Maybe that's why the border patrol specialist rushed in there.
