....when an American had the right to speak one's mind, without mobs or rioters attacking that American, when is was even allowed to criticize of mention the color of another individual, without losing one's job or one's head.

When Geraldine Ferraro said, "if Obama was a white man he would not be in this position," the Obama campaign accused her of racism. Ferraro said she was devastated by the attacks that were widely carried by the MSM. This, strangely, happened after Obama said, in the wake of the Rev. Wright debacle, "we need to have a dialogue on race." and after Obamawas quoted in the the Chicago Sun Times as saying, "if I had been one of six new white Senators showing up here in Washington I wouldn't have the book contract or be running for President." ---The Intellectual Republican---

Of course, as time revealed, the unaccomplished ingrate, Hussein Obama, never deserved the honor. Poor Geraldine was pilloried for speaking the truth.

Imagine, when Biden announces a black candidate as his vice-presidential nominee, what would happen in this America, if some brave soul criticized that candidate.

BTW....

On this date, July 12th, 1984
Geraldine Ferraro designated running mate of Walter Mondale
Democratic presidential candidate Walter F. Mondale put forward Geraldine Ferraro as his running mate on this day in 1984, making her the first woman ever nominated for vice president by a major U.S. political party.

When I hear someone talking about the "good" old days of race relations when white people could just say whatever crap they wanted without repercussions I think about what happened when black people tried to say what was on their minds. Turns out they took their lives in their hands for just acting like they had rights. The good old days were only good for bigots.

When the Honorable Joseph R. Biden, Jr., announces the name of his lady VP, the media will erupt in hosannas of joy!

And everyone will be expected to verbally (and through facial expression) express boundless joy at his selection.

In 2020, certain people can do no wrong. You must express your support for them, or you may easily lose your job or even be a victim of verbal and/or physical abuse, for which the authorities will blame you, not the perp.

I am FASCINATED -----I is old and I remember. When was it that "whites" were more entitled to
free speech than "blacks" -----I remember when
any REMOTE positive comment on "socialism"----or whatevah anyone decided what "socialism" was-----would cost one one's job and even house----if one was black. I remember the "black studies" in university and black activists of the 1960s who SAID AND DID stuff that ---if the the equal and opposite were done or said by a "white" would END the whitey

Ferraro wasn't the reason the Republicans lost so poorly. Mondale was that reason.

You have always had the right to speak your mind. However, you have never had protection from criticism based on what you say.
Great point...say what ever the heck you want to say, but do allow those that find your comments offensive to be heard as well. What this person should have said...I MISS THE DAYS WHEN NEGRO'S KNEW THEIR PLACE!!

Yeah, I'm a fossil too. I grew up in Alabama during desegregation and George Wallace. That's all I should have to say.

" Ferraro wasn't the reason the Republicans lost so poorly. "

One can only wonder why you bothered to link to my post, as you either did not understand it.....very possible, I've seen your posts......

....or you chose to ignore it completely.

In any case, your misapplication leads one to wonder how you manage to correctly match which shoe goes on which foot....
....or do you simply shoe the foot not in your mouth at the moment?

There could not be a finer example of what government schooling has done to the minds of American students.

As per the OP, there actually once was a time when free speech was taught by families (now the target for eradication by the Left) and by schools (now completely owned and operated by Liberals).

This post is pure gold as verification of the OP.

"Stacey Abrams Says She Will Step Down As Governor If Asked To Run For VP
May 21st, 2020
article-6227-1.jpg

ATLANTA, GA—Sitting at the governor's desk at the Georgia state capitol, Stacey Abrams told reporters she would step down from her governorship if asked to run for vice president.

"If Biden asks me to run, I'll need to focus on that full-time," she said. "As much as I love running this great state, if the country needs me, I'll be there."
A security guard patrolling the capitol building then entered the governor's office. "Come on, Stacey. Time to go. How many times do we have to have this talk?"
"Classic Greg," she said, laughing. "He's a real jokester. Anyway, yes, if Biden decides he is not a racist and wants me to run, I'll be there, giving my all to make sure we win the White House. It will be tough, but I know the people of Georgia will understand why I need to leave them for a while to save this country."
"But really, you can't be here," the security guard said uncomfortably. "Don't make me drag you out of here again."

Wait......are you suggesting.....that Trump isn't the single most criticized, lied about, smeared, attacked President in our history???

Wow! You've managed to jam both feet in your mouth!!!

Here is that silver lining that we’ve been told that every dark cloud has….the empty space in your brain that, in normal people, contains honesty and intelligence….well, you could use it to carry pocket change, and all sorts of effluvia.

No, you should say this, too: very KKK member, every one opposed to civil rights, every politician who blocked anti-lynching laws was......

No President in history has gotten away with the lies, bullying, misinformation and bizarre claims that Trump has.

The press is too soft and allows him to get away with it
