"Three weeks ago, Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) introduced a resolution titled 'Recognizing the genocide of the Palestinian people in Gaza.' Twenty-one House colleagues, all of them Democrats, signed on as co-sponsors.

"They account for 10 percent of the Democrats in Congress.

"In sharp contrast, a national Quinnipiac Poll found that 77 percent of Democrats 'think Israel is committing genocide.'

"That means there is a 67 percent gap between what the elected Democrats are willing to say and what the people who elected them believe.

The huge gap has big implications for the party’s primaries in the midterm elections next year, and then in the race for the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination."

Democrats in Congress Are Out of Touch With Constituents on Israeli Genocide

This level of denial will be tested in Democratic primaries next year when elected Democrats face an electorate "...far more morally attuned to Gaza than they are."

Yes, I know. New Democrats are rising and I can't wait for them to take over!

I hope you're right since Old Democrats are eternally oblivious to Israeli crimes like collective punishment, ethnic cleansing, and genocide:

"Yet the party’s leadership remains stuck in a bygone era.

"Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), the chair of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, typifies how disconnected so many party leaders are from the actual views of Democratic voters.

"Speaking in Brooklyn three months ago, she flatly claimed that 'nine out of 10 Democrats are pro-Israel.'

"She did not attempt to explain how that could be true when more than seven out of 10 Democrats say Israel is guilty of genocide."

Imho, voter turnout in next spring's Democratic primaries will determine whether or not their party returns to its New Deal roots or continues its corporate descent into FIRE sector oligarchy.

Democrats can't win unless they cheat.

They cheat by miscounting votes, rigging their districts to favor Democrats, and letting illegals vote in their elections.

This is why they refuse to clean their voter rolls and refuse to impose voter I.D. laws.

Are there any elected Democrats willing to challenge the Deep State's support for Israeli genocide in Gaza?

"The huge gap has big implications for the party’s primaries in the midterm elections next year, and then in the race for the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination.

"One of the likely candidates in that race, Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.), is speaking out in ways that fit with the overwhelming views of Democratic voters. 'I agree with the UN commission’s heartbreaking finding that there is a genocide in Gaza,' he tweeted as autumn began.

"'What matters is what we do about it – stop military sales that are being used to kill civilians and recognize a Palestinian state.'

"Consistent with that position, the California congressman was one of the score of Democrats who signed on as co-sponsors of Tlaib’s resolution the day it was introduced."

Shows the power of the liberal media.

Speaking of liberal media:

"'With American support for the Israeli government’s management of the conflict in Gaza undergoing a seismic reversal, and Democratic voters’ support for the Jewish state dropping off steeply, AIPAC is becoming an increasingly toxic brand for some Democrats on Capitol Hill,' the New York Times reported this fall.

"Notably, 'some Democrats who once counted AIPAC among their top donors have in recent weeks refused to take the group’s donations.'"

I'm not sure if the above qualifies as setting the agenda, framing the narrative, or holding power accountable, but it is a perspective the NYT would have been unlikely to present before the genocide in Gaza.

That's terrifying. It's just further proof of how monumentally stupid the average Democrat voter is.
God help us: someday we'll be taken over by these morons and it will NOT go well.

Stupidity is believing there's any difference between elite Democrats and Republicans when it comes to supporting genocide in Gaza:

Gaza genocide - Wikipedia

"The Gaza genocide is the ongoing, intentional, and systematic destruction of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip carried out by Israel during the Gaza war. It encompasses mass killings, deliberate starvation, infliction of serious bodily and mental harm, and preventing births.

"Other acts include blockading, destroying civilian infrastructure, destroying healthcare facilities, killing healthcare workers and aid-seekers, causing mass forced displacement, committing..."

So dumb! Obviously it’s genocide and you support it.

How are you different from a Hitler loving Nazi?

15th post

While a majority of Israelis support the genocide in Gaza, that war crime is fracturing Israeli "democracy" and exacerbating the growing chasm between different segments of Israeli society.

The curse of the eighth decade: Is Israel ’fated’ for civil war?

"Former Prime Minister Ehud Barak was the most recent official to accuse Netanyahu of 'declaring war on Israel.'

"Another former premier, Ehud Olmert, delivered a stark warning, suggesting the country is on the brink of civil war.

"Similar alarms were raised by Israeli President Isaac Herzog, former Deputy Prime Minister Moshe Ya’alon, and former Supreme Court President Aharon Barak. Meanwhile, Yair Golan, a former Israeli army commander and Member of the Knesset, went further, saying that Israel is 'killing babies as a hobby in Gaza.'"

The genocide is ongoing, Hasbara.

Israeli massacres persist as harsh winter arrives in Gaza

"The Israeli army continues to kill and injure Palestinians across the Gaza Strip, in spite of the 10 October so-called ceasefire.

"Sniper fire, tank shelling, drone strikes and aerial attacks are routine and incessant, especially in areas east of the vague and invisible yellow line demarcated by Israel.

"The United Nations’ humanitarian office stated on 27 November that in the area beyond the so-called yellow line, which comprises more than 50 percent of the Gaza Strip, 'daily detonations of residential buildings continue to be reported and access to humanitarian assets, public infrastructure and agricultural land remains restricted or altogether barred.'"
