Friendship

What makes a good friend (for you, personally)?

Do you consider most of your friends, true friends or merely "acquaintances"?

Going with a "standard" definition, a friend is:
a person whom one knows and with whom one has a bond of mutual affection, typically exclusive of sexual or family relations

I like the part "typically" - implies it's possible to be friends with a family member (I agree)
.. how about exclusive of sexual relations?

How about just "sexual" feelings or deep emotional attachment?

Lastly, do you find you have friends where it's mostly one-way (their way) - is that even a friend?

I am a loner and a good friend is someone who leaves me alone haha.

I'm right there with ya brother..... <if I could high five you, I would....>

What makes a good friend? Trust. My wife is my best friend.

Friendship is built on trust. I don't see my friends often, I'm so busy, but when I see them distance and time are irrelevant. We just pick up where we left off.

The question that this thread brings up for me is "How can you be a friend to yourself, as well as your loved ones?
