That's very common on larger applications of internal-combustion engines, such as locomotives, or large ships.

Coal isn't freight and there hasn't been an increase. It's still slowly shrinking.

But freight being hauled by train is very green on account of the huge amount hauled by a diesel engine that is the equivalent of three or four diesel truck engines. Count the rail cars full of freight.

The OP didn't think this one out very well if he was trying to make a point on 'green' transport of freight.
