Fourteen-year-old girl killed in Burlington Coat Factory

Los Angeles police fatally shot a fourteen-year-old girl inside a Burlington Coat Factory dressing room on Thursday when they opened fire on a male suspect inside the North Hollywood store.

Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department responded just before noon to a report of a man committing an assault with a deadly weapon inside the store crowded with holiday shoppers.

When they arrived, "officers encountered the suspect, who was in the process of assaulting another person," Officer Drake Madison told Insider. Police then opened fire. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

When the gunfire ceased, police confirmed the suspect had a bike chain or lock he was possibly using as a weapon but did not have a gun on him.

It was not clear how many officers opened fire or how many rounds were fired. LAPD Assistant Chief Dominic Choi said one of the bullets went through a changing room wall, hit, and killed the fourteen-year-old girl.

Police said they plan to review surveillance footage amid an ongoing investigation.

Why was the cop so eager to start shooting in a crowed place? Was he paid to do this to defame police?

Perhaps the assailant was black? The shoppers, mostly black? So, no one there could really be considered an "innocent" bystander? If this resembles the actual scenario, even slightly, most white cops would feel free to lob a grenade at the suspect (if they carried them).

I could be wrong, but I do believe that cops are not supposed to use a weapon until whoever they are after already has one out of their own.

God bless you and family of the victim and our men and women in uniform always!!!

My guess is, all the cops opened fire and they all used multiple clips.

Every cop who opened fire should go to jail for manslaughter for the 14 year old girl.

This kind of policing has to stop. The man was not armed with a gun. Cops start firing away with little or no concern where they are firing. If a suspect is firing on you, that is one thing but there is no reason to be firing in a situation like this.

Get someone there who can talk to him. Fire non lethal weapons. This idea that you will do as you are told, right now or we start blasting has to stop.

Another victim of Americas crazy gun laws. Shot in a changing room by a latter day Wyatt Earp.

Your police might be shit but they are working in a sick society.

So, tell us: What new gun law would've prevented a sworn police officer from discharging his firearm?

I guess it had nothing to do with Democrats releasing close to 100,000 maniacs into CA streets from prisons and mental hospitals.
As long as the people of CA put up with their leaders....they're gonna have to keep their heads down when they're out and about. CA is turning into Northern Mexico. At least they aren't openly dismembering people yet....but that's soon to follow.

1. Non-lethal rounds should have been used.

2. The officers involved should be suspended and if any negligence is found ( I am sure some can be found ) they should be dismissed from their job.

3. If the D.A. can prove wrongful doing on the Cops part ( unfortunately you will not be able to convict them of murder ) then file charges but this was a accidental death , so the officers will not be held accountable for jail time but the City will have to pay for the loss of life in dollars…

Even if a person isn't packing a gun, plenty of harm can be done with anything that the person is able to get their hands on. During a first season episode of the Blue Bloods, Tom Selleck simply said to a guy, "Get your hands off my daughter." The guy had her and a huge enough knife was his weapon of choice. When the guy didn't do as he was told, a bullet went right to his head.

God bless you and Mr. S. and the rest of the cast always!!!

Holly (one of the show's many fans)

P.S. I could be wrong, but this may be the only time that we have seen Mr. S. in such a scene during the show.
