I'm quite surprised actually, I thought the shipping costs would be too high to assemble the cars in China and bring back here to sell. It's one thing to make them there and sell them there or elsewhere in Asia, but bringing them back to sell them in the USA sounds expensive. Wondering if there is language in the contract with the UAW that says Ford cannot assemble those cars in a non-union US state.

It also says that outsourcing to China might become more commonplace too.

China also is a very inexpensive place to make cars. Ford estimates it will save $500 million a year by building in China rather than at the Mexican plant it had been looking at.

Ford needed to find a low-cost way to produce them. They're already making the Focus in China. This just made sense."
