Actually, student loan forgiveness impacts everyone. Makes those of us who paid off loans or didn't take them to start with because we didn't want to be burdened feel like suckers.

Especially for those who might have chosen to pay off a student loan instead of another obligation which isn't being forgiven.

The only way it would be "fair" is to make the Universities pay off the loans via their endowments instead of via tax money.
