The non-CRA lenders were happy to take risky loans because- wait for it- They would get the deposit, they would get the interest payments, and after foreclosure, they could resell the house to the next sucker...er investor.

CRA loans were high risk loans. They were only heavily scrutinized in the sense that the people getting loans qualified to received such a benefit, not that they had the finances to pay the loans back or the risk level. The risky lending gave the green light for banks to do the same. If Fannie and Freddie can do it, why can't we? The same thought process for those that bought the loans.

A white guy with long hair and tattoos driving an old pickup truck is not approached in the same way by black or white cops as a clean cut black guy driving a Mercedes. The black guy in this case may even be given more leeway with regards to compliance. Overall appearance and attitude, not race, matters. It is just a fact of life that you may not want to accept, but can’t be changed. It is the same in every country and in every race around the world. It is human nature.
