If the people of Ukraine were behind him, why would he need to go to these extremes?

Martial Law to some degree in a conflict. However, surely not the dissolution of political parties. And state controlled media? He's already jailed his opposition.

Shutting down opposition. Full control of propaganda.
Sounds like something that would happen here. And it did :D
Ukraine is light years away from being a sovereign democracy and yet the US, NATO and the EU use it as a mafia distribution center for energy and as an intelligence diving board.

They were never, ever a so-called democracy, they are, and they always have been, an autocracy, just as Russia is!
Let's dig through the shinola and find the shit.

They are behind him. But there are political parties in Ukraine aligned with Putin just as there were a number of TV stations owned by the leader of the opposition party. Misinformation is a powerful tool Putin has employed in Russia and Zelenskyy smartly does not want to allow Vlad to use it in Ukraine. It could literally get Ukrainians killed.

All of the parties are corrupt except his? And they also control all the media so they have to go as well.

It's like democrats in the US say every day, democracy is threatened so long as the GOP exists.

Anyone have a clue why pro-Russia opposition parties might be on the outs right now?

It is threatened since there's other political parties and non state controlled media?

Anyone have a clue why pro-Russia opposition parties might be on the outs right now?

And we see how Zelensky is dealing with multiple parties.

This is not a matter of corruption. It's a matter of the legitimate concern the pro-Russian parties in Ukraine will seek to spread disinformation and foment dissent at a time when internal sabotage is a real possibility.

He's shut down all avenues to a functioning democracy and he'd already jailed his opposition.

It's not a matter of corruption, I'll give you that. It's a matter of autocracy.

Mao did it. Stalin did it. Pol Pot did it... etc.

Trudeau wishes he could do it.
