First they came for Aunt Jemima, then. . . they came for Cracker Barrel

I was traveling to a bluegrass festival in my Motorhome and got real tired and had to stop for the night... I saw a Cracker Barrel so I pulled in and parked at an RV parking lane...
I went in to eat and they were cleaning up to close... but they said I could stay over night where I was parked... so I went back to my Motorhome and heard a knock on the door... it was the Manager with a tray of food... I made sure and had breakfast in the morning and tipped real big for the night crew and cooking staff....

never understood the popularity of cracker barrel .. their food is not home cooked its mostly canned veggies, instant mashed potatoes ect ..
Yep, the SYSCO truck pulls up there the same as every other chain eatery.

Their chicken and dumplings are not bad but it arrives frozen in aluminum baking pans from SYSCO.

Looks like a Disney production Mr B........ ~S~
I did a little looking around, and Cracker Barrel, seems to be best known for their breakfast.

It would seem their major competitors are places like Waffle House, IHOP, Denny's, Bob Evans, etc.

I'm not sure why they would want to redesign their restaurant to look more like their competition TBH.

I think these chain restaurants are grasping for anything to reclaim lost business from the anti business/covid era of the last few years. I saw an ad on the tube with the CEO of Red Lobster/Olive Garden where he was promoting "new" changes as well. I think they are missing the point. They killed the goose that laid the golden eggs and I don't know if they will ever regain what they have lost.

They don't use instant mashed potatoes.
They should have stopped using canned vegetables a long time ago, but like many restaurants continue to do so for shelf life and bulk purchasing power.

I believe they are bleeding sales and income, hence efforts to revamp.
They are not, the have not only made up for the losses of the covid over-reaction years - their revenue has grown, although very little. Especially the past year and a half. Almost no growth, but no loss either

However their operating income has declined badly and their stock price is not great.

I heard one argument that the changes are because their current primary customer demographic is literally dying off, and follow on generations have different aesthetics.
