Fear of a second US Civil War ignites debate
This so-called “debate” is a waste of time. Since the Reagan administration the voters in this country have faithfully elected politicians owned by Big Business and the 0.1%. An extremely limited portion of candidates have been able to overcome this tradition the U.S. electorate clings to, but their success is a rarity.
During the past four decades as corporate powers and the super-rich tightened their control over the federal, state, and local governments the rights of average Americans, especially the working class, have been eroded. Conservatives and most moderates have welcomed limiting workers’ rights, lower wages, and decreasing benefits, and hate politicians who fight to reinstate these rights and create policies to increase wages and benefits.
Those voters who do support the politicians that are true advocates for the U.S. workers have long ago resigned themselves to the fact money (and a lot of it) is the only motivation that gets things done by the legislators. The most money going into the pockets of the Republican and moderate Democrats comes from Big Business and the billionaire class. And it is Big Business and the billionaires pouring money into the federal, state, and local governments financing the end of the U.S. democracy. Because an autocratic plutocracy is far more beneficial to the free-market capitalist model created by Reaganomics and refined by our corrupt politicians in the years since.
A second U.S. civil war will never happen. It will not be permitted due to its negative impact on profits.
