This is 2020 not 2016. There are several differences between 2016 and 2020.

1. Hillary Clinton was not a much more formidable candidate. She won 34 contests while Biden won 41. The turnout was much higher in the 2020 primaries than it was in 2016. Biden got more votes than Clinton did in 2016 in numerous states.

2. Biden's negatives are much lower than Clinton's. In 2016, polling showed that no Republican candidate led Biden while 2 Republicans led Clinrton.
