I when moving to the state I was then living in we went to the court house, WE gave them all the information they asked for.
and we were registred to vote.
For years I went and voted they took my name, saw I WAS ON THE LIST OF REGISTERED VOTERS.
AND i voted. Then KANSAS tried a simular save deal .
so when went to vote, they said Now we need to see your drivers licence. I had one so not a big deal for me.
But did complain, what about those who dont drive? or are young & havent needed a car or to drive yet.?
THERE ARE ALWAYS COMPLATIONS. and most of those things cost people, time money and energy.
and worse yet more of our tax dollars for goverment to manage.

There is absolutely no reason to have to prove citizenship at the polls. You prove citizenship when you REGISTER to vote, not at the polling station.

Any government issued ID should be adequate to prove you're the person on the voters' list. Issuing a special voter ID is a method of restricting voting rights. For example, saying the name on your birth certificate must match the name on your voting application disenfranchises married women who have taken their husband's last name. Which is exactly what it is intended to do.
