EXCELLENT! Department of Education may be axed!

To a point that is true. But wasting time, indoctrinating students with CRT bullshit doesn't help your case.

And you have been told by every teacher here with real, direct experience teaching in public schools that they have NOT seen any of that.

With Democrats in Control, they make funding conditional upon some level of adoption of their agenda. While I’m glad some states resist, it would be best for the country if they ditched the social transformation agenda in favor of hard skills sets.
The Democrats will no longer be in control and really didn't do that much as the influence came in mostly at the local level with support of the unions, who should have had absolutely zero input on curriculum. Before COVID, that was simply not allowed. Local school districts are where most of the problems stated in blue cities in blue states where they faced little to no opposition.

If teachers, the educated professionals, shouldn't have input in the curriculum who should? Politicians? Sounds like you're making the case for local Politicians to decide what the politically correct curriculum should look like.

You can't really fix the fact that educated people are always going to be the least likely to share your ignorant MAGAt outlook on the world. :itsok:
What does that ignorant tripe have to with my post? Nothing. How very sad you thought was clever.

You're only projecting that you think it's clever. I characterized my statement as simple fact. It's just a fact that no amount of problem solving, either at the federal or local level will change the fact that educated professionals don't trend towards MAGAt ideology.

Yay! I've been calling for this for a long, long time.

Check out point .25 about how America, despite all the $$$ thrown at education does not rank well compared to other countries RE education.

At point 3.20 Betsy DeVos talks about how money from the federal gvt (D of E) goes to schools with strings attached aka an AGENDA.

she must be talking about the agenda of introducing our innocent children to pornographic books... :bang3:
The Dept of Education should ask for the Musk/Ramaswamy team to look at them first. If they are convinced Education is doing important and NECESSARY service for the American people across the country, they can recommend that it be retained. If the bureaucrats cannot make that case then yes, Congress should immediately order that a small amount of useful functions be transferred to HHS and ax the Department.

Imagine your disgust when the school tells you that your LOW IQ son can't attend the school because ........ well he is just to stupid and not worth our time.....take him home and deal with him yourself.
I would never try to mainstream a low IQ child.

I would want options to help him get the best he can in terms of help.

School isn't always the answer.

So I would say......you really don't understand the question.

The other thing.....when should my low IQ child start ? Do you put in the first grade at 6 years old where he is almost bound to fail ? Or do you get a little more creative ? These pompous responses show that we don't teach broad thinking very well at all.

Because they pay their teachers less and spend less on facilities and transportation. I have a master's degree in education where I studied both public, private and parochial schools. The funding could not be more different. The students could not be more different. Unfortunately, you have a very limited view.
It would be great to hear more about what you have to say on this subject.

You have to remember, NCLB was teddy Kennedy's baby, despite GWB's cooperation.

There was nothing wrong with Common Core except know-nothings attacked it as something it wasn't. The public doesn't even realize that it still exists in most states with only a name change and few minor tweaks to customize it. Remember, Common Core was created by a group of red state governors led by Jeb Bush.

Yes, I know people in education who both like and dislike it.

I thought it had been discontinued, as common core.

Red state governors can screw up too !!!

What would you have said if we had decided to not educate you or perhaps one of your children that had some issues?

I was asking if we should attempt to put everyone in the same type of system.....i.e. our education system.

I said nothing about children with issues.

It seems some youngsters enter school to early.

It seems some just were not cut out to sit in a class room.

Are there other things we can do for them that allow them to progress as people ?

How is testing political? Not a criticism, a question.

Testing can adjusted to secure (or improve the chances of) certain outcomes.

This was the knock on NCLB. Teachers were "teaching to the test" because part of the grade included them.

Hence, the testing wasn't determining what it should have been determining.

Things like that.

No criticism taken.

You said: Should we be attempting to educate everyone ?

That indicated you meant children with issues who would not be educated. In this post you then listed children entering school too early and those who cannot sit in a classroom. News flash: Those are issues. Do you propose ignoring them as you indicated that perhaps we should not educate everyone? The structure of your question just leapt to absurdity.

BTW, the word is "too".

You need to come up with any new ideas as the old tried and true works for about 95% of students and the other 5 have issues that need to be dealt with.

Yeah, ok.
I'll believe it when I see it. Till then it's empty promises and business as usual.
