Federal funds are based on a per student basis, whether they are poor students receiving funding for reading programs or special education students or female sports equity programs. There same funds can be doled out by another federal department like HHS just as easily. There are no so-called strings attached.

You still haven't explained a usefull purpose for the Dept. Of Education.

Don't need to. I agree we can eliminate a lot of its function and transfer those other functions retained to another département like it was prior to 1980. I guess you haven't seen all of my posts. I just don't like people to mistake the cause of the so-called decline in education as the Education Department when it is not, was not, and never will be.

Except they don't. The law establishes the rules and procedures like Title I, Title IX and the IDEA.

Hmm. So we send our money to the feds, and they pay thousands of employees to send the money back to us? Not a good reason to keep the DOE.
