Everyone wants to be a pirate until it’s time to look like one.

This supposes that the protest is in a small, restrained area of town, not a March blocks long? This also indicts the students at Kent State University fifty years ago.

You're obfuscating.

When the police are being violently attacked by members of your protest... and you remain after being asked to disperse...you are a party to the violence.

If the police then use force to disperse violent protests and you are injured... it's nobody's fault but your own. If you're a peaceful protester...you don't want to be involved with the crazies. Go home, come back tomorrow and peacefully protest some more.

IMO the police can and should defend themselves, defend the community and defend property from a violent riotous mob.
Can you account for excessive and unnecessary use of force by the police? Can you account for minor acts of violence met by overwhelming police force? Is it possible that the authorities don't always act with restraint? Is it possible that the police are not infallible?
Wag that dog.

This means, of course, that each and every protesters must be culpable for the actions of very other protester
YES. Absolutely. Unequivocally.

When the peaceful protest turns violent and you remain...not dispersing when required...you are culpable.

This ain't rocket science.

It's civics 101.

If the group of which you are member violently attacks police...if you are a peaceful protester...it's time to disassociate yourself from that group with a quickness.

The National Guard fired into the unarmed stud ntsmjust as classes were changing and the group of students appeared to grow larger. Three of the dead students were killed in the parking lot of Taylor Hall, still holding books.

Just shows that the cops are not infallible? The protesters gassed in Lafayette Square on June 1 were peaceful. The Australian TV crew was peaceful. The elderly gentleman shoved to the pavement in Buffalo was peaceful. The students clubbed by cops in Philadelphia were peaceful.

And, ironically, they were all protesting excess police force.
They were destroying and defacing public property. Lafayette Square belongs to the people of the US, not a bunch of ignorant racist rioters.
Duh.
They were peacefully protesting the evening of June 1, 2020. Then Trump wanted his clumsy photo op. And all hell broke loose. Duh.

The Australian TV crew got beaten by truncheons. Pepper spray filled the air. And the protesters were peaceful.

The authorities over reacted, over policed and beat people unnecessarily. Duh.
They burned a historic church! You are insane.

On Saturday night. But on Monday, the protesters were peaceful and the cops were riminals! You should read more!

Bullshit. The protesters at their very best are klansmen.

I have a question. If it is the cops losing an eye, is it still cool that they look like a pirate? Or is it an unwarranted and cowardly attack on valiant defenders of whatever they are defending?
