1. The Korean War was the result of playing nice with the Communists and hastily pulling out of Korea.
2. The Viet Nam war was to make up for the Bay of Pigs and French Indochina debacles.
3. The Serbian War was to make up for giving China nuclear missile targeting technology.
4. The first Iraq War was to make up for not protecting Kuwait.
5. The second Iraq War was to make up for not removing Saddam Hussein in the first war.
6. The Afghan War was to make up for pulling out of Iraq.
7. The Ukraine War is to make up for pulling out of Afghanistan.

Why do we keep falling into these traps?

The money is just a peripheral thing, huh?Just a little side perk, nothing major? :poke:

Traps or not BUT the US has taken one sort or another terrible beating in all of them .

WW2 was caused by domestic failures. Roosevelt's decimation of the military budget during the 1930's so he could fund his Raw Deal programs led directly to WW2. Germany was unconcerned about a weak USA and embarked on the Holocaust because they knew we could do nothing about it.

Roosevelt was essentially looking for any event to enter WW2 and he knew it would be expedited when he put sanctions on japan and their natural resource imports. Pretty sure he knew japan was inbound for the attack and let it happen.

USA still had very high unemployment in 1941, WW2 resolved that problem for him.

But if America had maintained a strong military in the 1930's, Germany wouldn't have even thought about pissing us off with the holocaust, and Japan wouldn't have even considered doing a Pearl Harbor job on us in Hawaii.

The first three are holdovers from WWII. The Afghan war was in response to the 9-11 attackers being given sanction. It became a MIC profit center. The emotion we all felt after 9-11 was morphed onto Iraq by the Bush media team to help justify the invasion and liberation of the Iraqi oil fields. It worked.

Even though it wasn't technically a war, you could probably add the Bay of Pigs in there with an asterisk.

WW2 was a repeat of WW1 with Italy and Japan switching sides. Both wars were initiated by Great Britain declaring war on Germany. The USA was not directly involved until several years after these hostilities began, but Wilson and FDR ignored our neutrality laws in the mean time. The Nazis did not did not fully implement the Holocaust until 1943 when they began realizing that they were going to lose the war.

Why do we keep falling into these traps?

1. The Communist helped fight the Japanese in WWII, but the US decided to support the collaborators instead. We were totally wrong, and tried to force Syngman Rhee on Korea, as a dictator, even though he had been kicked out of the country decades earlier for bank fraud.

2. The French Indochina debacle had nothing to do with us, and the Bay of Pigs was almost a decade later. We just like colonial imperialism, so tried to install Diem as a dictator, in violation of the Paris Peace Accord between the French and Vietnamese.

3. The Serbian war was because the Serbs were massacring unarmed civilians by the hundreds of thousands.

4. Kuwait should not have been "protected" and we should have helped give it back to Iraq, as the rightful owner. Kuwait was stealing Iraqi oil, and was a criminal state.

5. Saddam was our faithful ally, and always did whatever we wanted. He never did anything wrong. Those who claimed he gassed Kurds are lying.

6. I agree the invasion of Afghanistan made no sense at all, and was totally illegal.

7. The Ukraine war is just absurd, illegal, and impossible to come out well.

We keep repeating these foolish acts because the munitions producers want profits.

Nonsense.
WWII happened because the Allies were evil in WWI.
We started the war, it was evil, we murdered millions, stole half of Germany, and deserved WWII.
