The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act bill S.1383 or the SAVE America Act which passed the House on Feb. 11 requires Americans to provide proof of U.S. citizenship when registering to vote and show photo identification to vote in federal elections. The documentary proof includes identification that complies with the REAL ID Act of 2005 that indicates U.S. citizenship or a valid U.S. passport or a valid government-issued photo identification card that shows the applicant's place of birth was in the United States, or a valid military ID or forms of Tribal identification.

If you didn't register to vote then you don't get to vote.

If you did register to vote then you must've already proved your citizenship.

So, when the time comes to vote, you have already proved your citizenship, but now you have to prove that you are you, IOW somebody else isn't voting in your place. That's where the photo ID comes in.

How many people are there who are registered to vote but do not have a photo ID? I'm thinking not many. Geez, in this country you gotta have photo ID to do anything. Hard to believe there are that many people that can't get a photo ID AND are registered to vote. A Real ID costs between $30-$70, maybe democrats oughta be actively reducing or eliminating that cost at the state level. Actually, the GOP oughta get behind that effort too.


It sounds like the GOP is going to force a talking filibuster to pass the SAVE Act in the Senate. Apparently, it's already in the rules but neither side has actually forced that procedure in the past. If they do that, we will no longer be a republic where the minority has any say in our government, cuz the democrats will do the exact same thing when they take over. Not if, when. Congrats, Trumpers, if you do this you have just sold your country down the river.
