Escaping the Partisan Death Spiral

This article is spot on. We've got to wake up and stop falling for the charade of two-party politics.

Isn't that pretty much where we're headed?
There were a lot of things the Founders supported that we've strayed from -- like keeping the federal government small.

Another one that has cursed governments worldwide is universal suffrage. There's a good reason the Founders made it selective. I'm not saying we should go back exactly to what they had in place, but maybe limiting the vote to landowners would be preferable. Makers should have more of a voice than takers. Otherwise, you end up with a system of "bread and circuses" as Cicero once mentioned.

The Progressive movement of the 1890s was essentially the beginning of the end when it came to retaining the premise of "limited government."

None of the schemes address the real problem. The masses don't vote for the most competent people, they vote for the most persuasive liars.

vote for the most competent people, THEY WONT TRY FOR THE JOB ANYMORE BECAUSE DEEP STATE MSM WILL DESTROY YOU AND JAIL YOU!!!! Are you people on ACID!

"Us" and "them". That's the mindset that prevents those who love this country from uniting.

Did you have time to read the article?

The article is irrelevant if two sides can’t come together. It’s something I’ve been saying for awhile. Neither side is willing to concede anything. They believe their side is right and those who have the power will use that power to enforce their will on others.

Right now, the dems have that power because they control the media, social media, which means they control the flow of information, and thus, the narrative, but, the media are the ones largely driving the divide. This is why I blame the media for like 90% of what we argue about on a daily basis here on usmb.

I think the most people are largely not political, but, the media would have you believe otherwise. This is why they push that “all Trump voters are maga” and “all democrats want socialism”. Neither statement are true, but the media doesn’t want you to know that.

Its a one-party system (Uniparty). We sent an outsider and the uniparty has destroyed the country to stop any outsider (now or ever again)//

But the do that out of fear, because they fall for the lesser-of-two-evils con. Ranked choice voting does away with lesser-of-two-evils.

There's truth to this. But you sent the wrong outsider. We need a decent leader who can unite is some positive way. That's just not Trump.

Where is the evidence for that?

Nearly every post on this board.
I see a lot of hypotheses, but no evidence. Give me an example of a place where it's been tried and "the lesser of two evils" is gone.

So you can't give even one example where it's worked.
It's worked everywhere it's been implemented. The spoiler effect doesn't occur in ranked choice voting.

It's hard to disagree. While I do think ranked choice voting will help, and would have prevented the problem in the first place, it may just be too little, too late.

Kids need their fantasies.
