Usually we debate big policy issues, but what is the deal with the surge in EpiPen prices and what would you do about it?

I don't know if this chart is even scaled correctly to show the difference between $50 a pen and $350.

This $300 discount program seems strange for a business to undertake. First, it came about after the press started slamming Mylan for crying poor and holding a CEO pay increase. Second, it seems if your family of four makes less than $90,000 you can get a pen for about $100, more, no discount. Just guessing on the math but would it be possible to just sell them all for $150 a pop or so? Not that I don't like staggered tax rates but is it legal for a private company to charge some folks more? Sometimes my place of employment will cut people who we think need help a break I suppose...

I say it is tax payers business since lobbyist pushed through legislation to spend tax payer money to equip all the schools with epipens and FDA refused another companies attempt to provide an alternative. Monopolies do not get a free pass to rape and pillage the American taxpayer funds.

Currently Mylan enjoys a complete monopoly with the epi-pen in this country. Going elsewhere would mean traveling out of country which would cost more than the pen.
New and old businesses creating an epi-pen have been stifled by the FDA for political and monetary reasons, Mylan has very powerful friends, when that door closed no others were available.
What did people do before open heart surgery?
What did people do before insulin?
What did people do before penicillin?

I disagree.

The Union Pacific owns some railroad tracks but if they refuse to move tanks on then when the government deems it necessary for general safety....

My hospital can't turn you away if you are having a heart attack.

But I can price you out of an epipen after having a period of protection provided to me by the big government patent office? Or benefiting from the big government protection of the police which we all fund?

Show me why the eippen should cost 10 times as much and I'll shrug life sucks or work on getting more dilithium or whatever else they need.

Sorry, but the fanciful idea of a "free market" does not apply to medical industries. Free market necessarily requires consumer choice. When you're nearly dead, choice goes out the window.
