Enough with the Trump tariffs are destroying the economy threads

Nothing more than bullshit prognostication coming from your side.

This may could maybe hurt damage slow something if and when maybe something could may happen.
If you want to hear bullshit prognostication, listen to Trump for a few minutes.

You say the tariffs are only for negotiating and will be gone, he says we are going to collect hundreds of billions from tariffs and be rich.
Which is it?

That's part of the negotiating process.

"If you agree with us, trade increases and we both win, if you don't we make money off the tariffs, protect our industries, and we just win"

No one’s really sure which one Trump wants. That’s why businesses will be holding back.

They’re especially worried about the second scenario, where we definitely don’t win.

And that's why the Canadians will come to the table eventually. They need us more than we need them.

Again, if you are right, you will sweep the mid terms.

We shall see.

Trump knows he has 1.5 years to show what he's capable of, or he will get rebuked in the mid terms.
Very true
The clock is ticking

Hard to move from chaos to normalcy in 1.5 years
Tariffs take a while to show results

The more we fight our trade partners, the less they will want to be aligned with us.

Making the US unreliable, unpredictable and disruptive will lead to isolation.

If I’m right, Trump will blame Biden and you’ll repeat this bullshit as will everyone is in right wing media.

The problem of unfair trade with even our partners goes far before Biden.

Trump is trying to fix things that have been broken for decades. He knows he has 1.5 years to show results.

We are operating under the trade agreement Trump negotiated in his first term.

What kind of results are we going to see from reduction in milk tariffs? Is that what was holding us back from a golden age?

Trump in his first term had advisers too linked to the status quo. He's got better ones now.

It's just one part of a big problem. The US has allowed others to be protectionist while we stood on the supposed "high ground" and got fucked over.

Right. His advisors didn’t tell him about the critical issue of milk exports.

Is it actually a big problem? Milk exports don’t seem that big of a deal.

All part of the same big problem, other countries being protectionist while demanding we don't do the same.

Yet again, is it actually a big problem? Or are you just told to say that? The modern era has been one of markedly low trade barriers and tariffs.

You can’t even get your story straight about whether protectionism is good or bad. You don’t know because you have to defend whatever Trump decides so you’re being ambiguous until he tells you what to believe.

Protectionism is bad when only one side is allowed to do it.

As I've said, this is a fight decades in the making, same with the other fights Trump has taken up.

Food prices are UP
Inflation is UP
Unemployment is UP
The only thing that went down so far.
The stock market is DOWN

Yet Trump promised to "fix" much of the economy on day one.

You think the US doesn’t have any protectionist tariffs or policies?

And if he doesn't deliver by Summer 2026 he will pay in the midterms.

Plus, most people who support him won't believe the media on these things anyway, because the media has destroyed its reputation.

You think the US doesn’t have any protectionist tariffs or policies?

I think we have far less than others, and far more economic power to do things about other's protectionism.

America in its heyday didn't have to worry about protectionism. America was about innovation, which meant we were making products that other countries weren't capable of making.
So there was no protectionism on a lot of American goods.

But today is different. After George W. Bush pushed to "offshore" manufacturing, and "outsource" goods.
Those countries that took on the job of making goods for the US, didn't want the rug pulled out by America suddenly dumping those same goods into their country, and eroding their burgeoning small manufacturing base.
