What actually happened was that upper management realized that the management team was all white and decided that hte next shift supervisor had to be black.

NO white people were considered, regardless of qualifications.

The promotion denied to them, was a big one. It would make the difference from working poor, to lower middle class. That promotion for me, when I got it, made the difference from taking hte bus to see my mom, to taking my mon on a cruise.


And it was a rare chance. This was, if not an once in a lifetime chance, close to it.
