This is one thing I'm looking forward to. We all know government is a big beaurocracy and there's probably tons of things we could eliminate and do just fine without. If they truly did cut every department in half. Those government workers can go out on the private market and find jobs. Shrink government, maybe even pay off the debt.

I would not be apposed. And yes this will cause temporary pain but would be worth it if we could pay off our debt. I know that's probably not realistic but a guy can dream.

We have heard this claim to be able to find huge saving, in fraud, waste and abuse, as well as departments that should or will be shuttered, many times before. Oh,well. At least he is only starting to talk about creating one new department, whole cloth, some kind of department for government efficiency. That will give somebody else to blame for oversite, rather than Congress or existing cabinet positions.

A lot of these department extensions were made based on gross assumptions of the laws passed by congress.

Now with Chevron deference bye bye, cutting these agencies would be much easier in the face of any lawsuits to try to stop them from happening.

Who knows. The EPA was created by an executive order, back when the Republican Party cared about the environment. Whether the Supreme Court will declare all government agencies unconstitutional if not created by Congress is unclear. There truly is no predicting what they would be willing to strike down for the political wishes of the incoming administration. It certainly will not be striking down any new government department the President-Elect chooses to start, as presidents have started whole departments before, many still standing.
