According to Snopes, it is most likely he legally 'overstayed' his student visa and was issued a non student visa to be here. Those are things that leftwing propaganda organization like WAPO usually leave out of the discussion. Snopes is certain no rightwing organization and will sometimes strain at gnats to discredit something or somebody on the right. But mostly they do have the ethics, principles, integrity, sense of honor to try to get things as right as they can.

And I'm pretty sure if Musk, a former darling of the left, had not chosen to come down on the side of free speech and supported most of Trump policies, most especially in the area of illegal immigration, WAPO and other leftwing propaganda organizations would never have started looking for ways to trash him and you never would have started this thread.
