Ditched his graduate program, which ended his student visa.
He then proceeded to work illegally.

So an illegal alien should be allowed to break the law and work? I thought you dumbells cared about law and order? Of course he's a white South African so of course he's OK since MAGA is basically white supremacists with masks on anyway.Shows that some illegal aliens can live productive lives and not be a sponge on the system.
Just like democrats to read and report on just the headline, instead of doing a little research. So predictable. Reading a CNN article, the following is claimed from the American Immigration Lawyers Association as well as a 35 year immigration attorney: In short, the path Elon took could have been very legal depending on the type of visa he had:
Legal experts said foreign students cannot drop out of school to build a company even if they are not getting paid. The Post also noted that – prior to the September 11 terrorist attacks agains the US in 2001 – regulation for student visas was more lax.
“If you do anything that helps to facilitate revenue creation, such as design code or try to make sales in furtherance of revenue creation, then you’re in trouble,” Leon Fresco, a former US justice department immigration litigator, told the outlet.
But the Post also acknowledged: “While overstaying a student visa is somewhat common and officials have at times turned a blind eye to it, it remains illegal.”
I'll trust the American attorney experts over an anonymous debate forum poster. As they said, it depends on the type of visa he was holding and whether there were exceptions -- details not known to the public or media sources. Cheers! The Guardian
So stop it. I am an immigrant from Britain and know rather more than most here about the mechanics of this. Musk broke immigration law and knew it, any intelligent person wishing to live/work in the US has a duty to obey the law to the letter.
Immigration agents do not tolerate people taking advantage or pretending this and that, the law is the law and its very clear.
Musk is a hypocrite as is Trump and sadly most of the people posting to this thread. Every kind of visa (immigrant and non-immigrant) is clearly documented along with the rules about what you can and cannot do.
For example an H1B visa allows you to work for a SPECIFIC EMPLOYER and if you leave then you CANNOT WORK (and cannot be hired) and must exit the US within a few days at most so even hanging around not working is itself illegal.

Deal with what? Nobody cares. There is a video confession in the OP.
Deal with it.
Nope. It’s a giant nothingburger. Sorry. As usual, the dishonest right attempts to defend the indefensible.
Such is the hypocrisy of the right.
Nope. The hypocrisy is you leftists adoring Musk for years when he was the green electric car king then immediately hate him when he doesn’t support everything left 100%.LOL, the problem I have is the hypocrisy.
But you cannot even see it.
Brainwashing victims, amiright?
My post #10 lines all that out nicely. Your Snopes link is primarily 2016 information. The new information revealed by the WP has superseded the Snope's link. Thus, maintaining that Musk was never in violation of his immigration status is indeed, "Fake news".
Musk's own sworn admissions show that he was quite aware of his status, but gambled that earning a few hundred million bucks would make it all OK.
He was, of course, right~

No, he was an illegal immigrant illegally living in the USA.All the evidence points to the truth that Elon Musk was never an 'illegal' immigrant as we define the term now. More dishonesty from a malicious left that is increasingly without morals, integrity, principles, ethics.
According to Snopes: ". . .In sum, the claim that Elon Musk was once an "illegal immigrant" in the U.S. is unproven. While Musk did joke about being in a "gray area" regarding his immigration status, the available evidence suggests that he followed a legal path through student visas and H-1B temporary employment visas. There is no credible evidence that he was ever fully "illegal" during his more than three decades in the U.S. . ."

Yes, so?People who overstay student visas are indeed illegals.
It is a fact.
The desperation and arrogance of self righteous Democrats presuming their hateful rhetoric trashing a political adversary has more credibility than fact checking organizations never ceases to amaze me.No, he was an illegal immigrant illegally living in the USA.
