No sorry — Washington, D.C. should not be a state. It was designated in the Constitution by the Founders to serve one purpose: to be a special federal district functioning as the nation’s capital. The land originally came from Maryland and Virginia, although Virginia received its portion back in the 1800s. If Washington, D.C. ever ceased to be the capital of the United States, the land should, by all rights, be returned to Maryland, the rightful Sovereign.Nobody cares. DC has this weird thing where they have to placate Congress because they aren't a state (as they should be)
So instead of whining about the differences in stats, post what the stats are.
I would not want to see Washington, D.C. become a state and gain the power of life and death over its citizens. In fact, I wouldn’t want any city to have that kind of power. I also think it was a mistake that Florida once granted limited governmental authority to the Disney Corporation over Disney World. Some people claimed that Florida could not take that power back—based on my perception, mostly the left made that argument—but I disagreed. In any case, it was a mistake to grant such authority to a for‑profit or nonprofit corporation in the first place.
