Of course we know that people attempt to use other peoples social security numbers - it's called identify theft. We've known about that for decades.

I myself have two different SSN's. Back in the day SSN were not issued at birth, they were requested later. Well two different requests were made by different parents and it wasn't discovered until I started really working (joined the Navy). The discovery was made, the "other" SSN was permenantly flagged and deactivated, and life went on.

I'm looked for reporting on this item, nothing in the media (not supprizing since it X'ed in the middle of the night). Let's see what the full story is.

How many checks going to PO Boxes, or non-US addresses?
How many checks for assistance going to the same address?
How many checks for assistance going to an address that also has a tax return with earned income?

There are many simple computer checks that can be made to find fraud.

The other side of the coin is that W-2 information is reported to the IRS.

Now you have a tax problem for two different people for the same SSN which causes an immediate problem with the IRS.

• The idenity theft person DOES'T file taxes, meaning when the real person files their Tax Return the amount claimed as income on the return will be less then the IRS has received W-2 information on. That will raise flags.
• or
• Both individuals, the theif and the real person, file for taxes and when a second Tax Return is received for the same SSN, that will raise flags.

Well this is an interesting development. Apparently the Social Security system has many duplicate numbers, which may be resulting in massive fraud. I recently underwent a First Advantage background check for employment, and an anomaly was reported in the Social Security Number Verification from Experian. It reported a former name with a slightly different first name and different middle initial. The remark on the credit report stated "SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER REPORTED MORE FREQUENTLY FOR ANOTHER CONSUMER." I thought it was curious, because I've never used a different name.

Elon Musk has just discovered this, it's probably just the tip of the iceberg.

The duplicate numbers do not mean what YOU think they mean. The duplicate numbers are just the manner in which illegals pay into withholding taxes, and get NOTHING back.

What you're seeing is WHY Republicans refuse to reform immigration law. Republicans use this money to fund YOUR Social Security.
