The budget - Afghanistan - the environment - various non-confidence possibilities... if the Liberal party had any confidence in winning, the election would've already been in the works.

As I understand it the Libs have been a bit cautious, perhaps because the leadership issue isn't really settled. Maybe they're also allowing the Harper government to unravel slowly as well. But I do suspect that Ignatieff is biding his time as well.

I think Stephane Dion will call a new election in time for November 2008, just so it will coincide with the American election fever. His new carbon tax platform and whatever else he adds to the Liberal platform is just a prelude.
