Eileen Gu and birthright citizenship

except I served this country and unlike you, didn't have to be drafted.

So there's that.
When you were a good Republican.

I definitely was drafted. Got very high-test scores on all of my Army tests so they gave me some great jobs.

None at all.

You’re not a real democrat then!!

😄
Frankly, I don't give a shit about the Olympics or sports in general. But if she can make some money, and the American team didn't pick her, then why not?

But she chose to compete for China. She was already competing for America. She could have competed for America this year. She chose not to.

And here we have YET ANOTHER attempt at broad brushing. Eileen Gu has an American Father and Chinese Mother and was born and raised in the US.
Means she can compete for either side if the rules allow it

Many Olympic athletes who were born here compete for other nations

Armond Duplantis is the greatest pole vaulter in history
He holds the world record at 20 ft 8 in
He was born in Louisiana and lived there most of his life. HIs father is American and mother is Swedish
He was raised in Louisiana, graduated HS there and went to LSU
He has won two Gold Medals for SWEDEN

I don’t see JD Vance attacking his patriotism.

This is not a "birthright citizenship" issue. She is undeniably a US citizen and as I said, I think it's fine and dandy she took the millions from China to compete for them. As long as she PAYS HER TAXES. Something tells me she will hire the best tax lawyer in California and fight the windfall profits tax tooth and nail.

Once again, Trump finds a woman to pick on.
Gu is not just a woman with a Chinese name deciding to compete for China over the US
Her mother lives in China and Gu spent a lot of time there growing up and speaks fluent Chinese

But Trump shows outrage over an event nobody has ever heard of

Who cares about a Chinese athlete?

Alysa Liu is the honourable athlete, her dad escaped the communists in China and when she won he wrapped himself in the flag. THAT is what Americans should want, not some one who represents another nation.

Does she live in China? If not, why not? That would be the epitome of hypocrisy worthy of being mocked.

There are many foreign athletes that come to this country to make money in their sports, NBA,NHL, MLS, MLB, lots of others as well, plus the US has better facilities and more advanced technology in sports to help train athletes to improve in their sports. So foreign born athletes living in the United States is common.

From what I understand her mother was Chinese and they paid her $7 million. Surely MAGA can understand that.
Unlike the era of Jim Thorpe, Olympians make no attempt to remain amateurs. They follow the money.
Many Americans compete for other countries because they couldn’t make the US team, or will get more adulation or of course money.

Believe it or not
Many US Olympians are from other countries

His father is American. Named Duplantis.

That is the beauty of this country that welcomes immigrants who enter legally and do not overstay visas and automatically considers their U.S. born children as American citizens.

Of course, that would not mean that we should allow an illegal immigrant to cross our border unlawfully moments before giving birth and reward her with a permanent stay and a child with full benefits.

If that chinese woman does not want to represent the u s, she is welcome to represent whoever she wants. better yet, go live in that country that she is proud to represent. Don't let the door hit you on your flat ass on the way out.

Oppressive communist nations?
Where her mother was born and lives
Gu spent time there growing up and speaks fluent Chinese

She did it for millions of dollars
Can’t get more Capitalist than that

What a bunch of pud knockers...

Yes I know the history, but she was born and raised here and enjoyed all of the privileges of going to our school system, and enjoying the fruits of a free capitalist society.

I don't agree with your last comment, in that it's one thing to be an American in business and collecting Chinese dollars, millions of Americans are doing that, but it's another thing to don their uniforms and compete for a communist nation against the country that has given her so much.
In my book the only thing for her to do now, is to PERMANENTLY leave the U.S. and live in China.

You are playing HEY LOOK OVER THERE! again, Fridge. Here is the REAL issue with Eileen Gu competing for China. She does not have dual citizenship with China, she has LEGAL US citizenship and has lived every minute of her life in America. China is paying her $6.6 million to compete as a Chinese athlete. I'm not surprised the Olympic committee allowed it as they are another Left Wing anti-American organization. That said I think it's GREAT she competed for China as it brings in $2.5 million in tax revenue to the US, assuming she doesn't cheat on her taxes.
I think you're a little misinformed.

China is a country of "hey, we have this law, but it's rather inconvenient right now, so we'll ignore it", there's easily a chance that she has duel citizenship. Or she could have given up her US citizenship.

She hasn't lived every minute of her life in the US, she used to go live in China when she was a kid.

"Every summer, she attended cram school in Beijing for mathematics."

Which is your book. Her book is one where she's American and Chinese, because she is both of those. It doesn't have to be a "you're either with us, or against us" nonsense.

Also, China is hardly Communist.

Well, she WAS 'against' us since she was competing against us.
