Education Secretary Linda McMahon announces mass layoffs at Dept. of Education - 50% of workforce

Which is WHY Federal Micromanagement must end.
The Federal Government does not micromanage.
Schools are run by local districts iaw state standards

They do get involved in issues like discrimination and students with special needs which the states did such a poor job on

Just classic government bureaucrats. So needless.

Sometimes I wonder if lefties wipe their asses themselves or have a line of 4 people standing by to perform a wipe each.
I use a MAGA hat

Why are you obsessed with having someone else do the tasks Dept of Education is now doing?

What makes you think other agencies would be better at it?

If you think other agencies are the way to go, why are you firing half the workforce rather than transfer people to a new agency?
What tasks are they doing and what are the results? $298 Billion per year for US to rank in the bottom among industrialized nations for math and reading proficiency?? School
Violence is up to the point recruiting and retaining teachers is a challenge.

At a minimum, this place needs a detailed audit and personnel role review. What I see is a lot of bloat and its mission appears to be at the service of the NEA Union, not the taxpayer.

Interesting, suddenly the left wants trannies in sports to be decided at the local level.

Those communities know best, according to the left.

BUT ONLY ON TRANNIES. :auiqs.jpg:

State governments can handle anything the DOE does,

WHICH, AGAIN….DID NOT EXIST BEFORE 1980.

  • K-12 spending has surged, yet test scores remain stagnant.
  • The federal student loan program has ballooned, creating a debt crisis.
  • Catholic and private schools achieve better results while spending far less per student.
Face it, your indoctrination center for the Left is screwed.
  • K-12 spending has surged, yet test scores remain stagnant.
Blame the states for that one. U.S.Department of Education does not set states curriculum and does not have a damn thing to do with it.

Before anyone asks, yes, this is what we voted for.

Education Secretary Linda McMahon said that mass layoffs—nearly 50 percent—are just a first step toward eliminating the Department of Education and returning power to the states and the parents.

A. Nobody will even notice they are missing.

B. The gravy train is over.

Yep, good ole boy from alabama laughed and the above is exactly why Alabama is close to the bottom of education and it's certainly not the fault of U.S. Department of Education.

So, what IS the fault of the Dept. of Education?

Or in your view, is "nothing" their fault?

Student loans that allow millions of students to go to school
Funding for Special Education
Funding for schools in poor communities

Violence is an issue for local school districts
So is student performance

If you look at those industrialized countries that do better than us, ALL have more federal involvement in their schools

A lot of those "students" have no business going to a four year college and no reason to borrow money to do it.

Student Loans is a financial issue, not an education issue. Under the Department of Education, Student Loans have gotten out of control to the point your side is pushing the taxpayer to pick up the tab. That is wrong! It is the responsibility of the student and/or their parents to exercise some control when taking on a loan.

Where was the regulator or authority over the last 25 years when students were taking out loan $250k-$300k in loans to go study at a private college in another state in a major for which there is little or no market in the job market?

This needs to be cleaned up. If you are going to ask the taxpayer to bank your loan, there needs to be boundaries:

  • first two years at local community college
  • Years 3 and 4 at an in state university.
  • Major in a field that aligns with job demand.
  • Technical and trade schools are a definite plus given their affordability and alignment with job market.

Trump is preparing an executive order to abolish the Department of Education—a move that will undoubtedly hurt teachers, students, and parents in red states the most.

The draft order will direct the department to slash spending and slash staff, according to The Washington Post. Such an aggressive decision on such a large scale would have sweeping consequences.

“The Dept of Education provides crucial funding for low-income public schools—eliminating it would result in the loss of 6% of teachers’ jobs nationwide,” former adviser for Barack Obama, Steven Rattner, wrote on X.

That's called biting the hand that feeds you.

Mostly agree
Some majors provide low value and few job prospects. Just because you love Art or music or history doesn’t mean anybody is going to pay you for it.
Going into debt is of little value.
But most students already major in subjects that offer high pay.

FIRE them all and round file this waste of a department. It's nothing but a Dem scheme to scam taxpayers and grow the size of government.
