Education Secretary Linda McMahon announces mass layoffs at Dept. of Education - 50% of workforce

Article 1 Section 1
Wrong, wrong and more wrong. That Article gives Congress legislative powers, as in making laws. Nothing in the Constitution gives the Federal Government the power to create anything like the Department of Education. That belongs to the States.

Back in the 1980s, schools did improve. You just don't remember. In 1960s and 70s, a child with a learning disability, physical handicap, or attended school in a poor black school district in the South, they were doomed to a life of ignorance and poverty with no way to be successful in life. That changed in 1980.
Then its job was completed in ‘80 and it should have been shut down then. That’s the problem with all of these government programs. They keep existing for no purpose and end up ******* shit up worse trying to stay relevant and getting paid.

I’ll make a deal.

We don’t charge you taxes for education.

For that you don’t use any goods or services provided by those who went to public schools.

No buying goods or services manufactured or delivered through the efforts of those educated in public schools.

No driving on roads designed and built by those educated in public schools.

No medical care from doctors, nurses, dentist, etc. educated in public schools.

Deal?

Or are you just going to suck at the teat provided by others.

Every welfarer? You’re a bully to the poor

Education Secretary Linda McMahon said that mass layoffs—nearly 50 percent—are just a first step toward eliminating the Department of Education and returning power to the states and the parents.

It will be interesting to see now whether any district judge tries to stop this. And if not, then the question arises that if the Education Secretary appointed by Trump has the authority, then how can the president not, who is the head of the federal government who appointed her?

I'd love to see a judge step in now and try to tell McMahon that she hasn't the authority to fire people within her own agency.

Congress gets to make laws for the General Welfare of We the People

Provide for the Common Defense and promote the General Welfare, promote not fund which in the case of the Federal Government means stay the **** out of things not mandated to it by the Constitution. Limited and Enumerated Powers.

The General Welfare Clause, found in Article I, Section 8, Clause 1 of the U.S. Constitution, grants Congress the power to "lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts, and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States"

Collect taxes and pay debts there is nothing in the Constitution that give the Fed the power to create random departments.

Doesn’t work like that Skippy
It is up to you to prove your claim that Dept of Education funds unions
What or whose rules are you playing by? This agency was created at the bequest of a union in 1980.

Sure it does
If those departments benefit the welfare of the people
Education does that

Sounds like society moved away from personal responsibility and accountability. And, school policies today have no problem teaching kids about sex changes on time that could be spent on reading and arithmetic.
Actually, they don't. That is a huge myth. They may spend a few hours on the topic. However, any time spent on it is a waste. Perhaps it too is only in certain blue districts. My grandkids receive none in KY and TN.

in all honesty, more time doesn't help a kid who stays up all night on their phone on social media and on their computer playing video games.

Fair enough. How much of that current $298B is going to special needs vs. how much is going towards unions and back to political party donations?
None of that money goes to unions. Where do you get such a stupid idea?

Political donations come from the national unions such as the NEA and AFT. The government has nothing to do with it.
