Watching a science show and just learned that:

A) Earth's magnetic field has weakened 10% the past 200 years, and

B) Earth's magnetic field continues to weaken and move.

Do climate "scientists" account for this in their models?

Actually I have studies from 1% of scientists saying that the magnetic field is not only getting stronger, it may be the strongest thing in the universe! And that it hasn't budged an inch!

No they do not and I have post stuff like this before that shows the magnetic field has more to do with "Climate Change" than CO2..

NO THEY DO NOT..

One of the major flaws of modeling is the downward pull on oceans and how increasing or releasing the pressures affect global ocean and air circulations. These have a direct effect on rate of flow which can have devastating impacts on global climate. Simply another area they have ignored in the complex modeling of earths climate system.

As long as the Earth's crust doesn't reverse with the field, we can survive!

:D I'm a glass half full kind of gal!

The magnetic field of the earth reverses about every 500,000 years. We have a very good record of one of the reversals in the Steens Mountain basalts. In the paleo records, we can find no real effect on climate or life at the time of the magnetic reversals. Seems to be a non-event as far as life on earth is concerned.

See how the AGW cult will deny evidence and preach their religious message..

They will always choose their religion over true science..

Are there connections between the Earth's magnetic field and climate?

Bed wetting libturd drones will NEVER accept the possibility that every destructive storm, tornado, earthquake, hot day, or cold day has anything to do with nature, normal cyclical events, sun spots or anything other than they're programmed to believe.

That would be republicrats using gasoline.

Again...

We are not discussing the mindsets of cognitive human beings. We are still trying to understand how "people" that have the ability to read and write can be as vacuous and incapable of critical thinking as libturds are. It's almost as if parasites like rdouche, jillian, NYCrackhead, CandyAss, wrongwinger Et Al. are nothing more than algorithms. They never have anything creative to say, it's all regurgitated mindless bullshit parroted from moonbat websites.

There can not possibly be that many stupid people on earth.

Jesus man go sit down before you give yourself a stroke

Sure Pete. Just keep flapping you ignorant yap, and presenting absolutely no evidence to back up your silly opinion. The subject is the magnetic field of the earth.

Magnetic field of the earth does not exert a "pull" on much of anything that isn't cosmic rays or other high energy particles. No direct role in atmos pressure or the oceans as tossed out above. That would be gravity for the rest of the class.

HOWEVER -- the ability to deflect and shield against cosmic rays LIKELY DOES play a role in the Hydro cycle in the Atmos. INCLUDING influencing cloud cover which IS a fundamental area of DEVELOPING research in Climate Science. And YES -- a 10% change would be significant. So would SHIFTS of the magnetic poles if they got to be large.

what studies?

here's a link from Nasa agreeing with the OP, so what is it exactly are you looking at?

NASA - Earth's Inconstant Magnetic Field

"The pole kept going during the 20th century, north at an average speed of 10 km per year, lately accelerating "to 40 km per year," says Newitt. At this rate it will exit North America and reach Siberia in a few decades.

Keeping track of the north magnetic pole is Newitt's job. "We usually go out and check its location once every few years," he says. "We'll have to make more trips now that it is moving so quickly."

Earth's magnetic field is changing in other ways, too: Compass needles in Africa, for instance, are drifting about 1 degree per decade. And globally the magnetic field has weakened 10% since the 19th century. When this was mentioned by researchers at a recent meeting of the American Geophysical Union, many newspapers carried the story. A typical headline: "Is Earth's magnetic field collapsing?""

hmm the average is every 300,000 years, where do you get your info?
NASA - Earth's Inconstant Magnetic Field

"Sometimes the field completely flips. The north and the south poles swap places. Such reversals, recorded in the magnetism of ancient rocks, are unpredictable. They come at irregular intervals averaging about 300,000 years; the last one was 780,000 years ago. Are we overdue for another? No one knows."
