None of the establishment candidates, including Cruz, intended to honor that pledge if Trump gets the nomination. The pledge was created for the sole purpose of getting Trump to sign it.

Trump was not the first one to back out of that stupid pledge. Bush would not commit to honoring it when he was still in the race, nor would Kasich. Cruz is backing out of it as well. ALL of them BEFORE Trump backed out.
