Most of the South people definitely preferred VC, either. The USA supported anti-people regime, actually - colonal administration.


I prefer "Green Berets", the only American movie about Vietnamese war, actually made during the time of Vietnamese war. Of course its rather primitive propaganda, but even primitive propaganda (especially primitive propaganda), if made properly, may show us the more or less actual motivation of American people and American soldiers.

And I like actual American songs about it, like, say Tom Paxton's "Lyndon Johnson Told the Nation".

Communists can't fight wars without deception.
They win by turning the ignorant public against their own country.

The problem with communist governments is they have to build walls to keep their people in, whereas we have to build walls to keep them out. This is why so many people living in Russia and China want to come here. It's as simple as that.

Vietnam would be temporarily divided at the 17th parallel, pending elections within two years to choose a president and reunite the country. During that two-year period, no foreign troops could enter Vietnam. The agreements concluded in Geneva between April and July 1954 were signed by French and Viet Minh representatives and provided for a cease-fire and temporary division of the country into two military zones at latitude 17 °N. The Geneva Accords brought a cessation to hostilities in the First Indochina War, a prolonged conflict between French colonial forces and Vietnamese nationalists led by the Viet Minh.
