These drones do not carry Hellfires like the ones in Afghanistan do. They just carry cameras.

I don't see the difference between the government watching me on the street with a camera vs. the government watching me in the exact same spot except from a different angle (looking down). So the problem is not that the cameras are airborne, the problem is that Big Brother is watching us at all.

The biggest concern I have about drones themselves is that we have data from Afghanistan which shows drones are more likely to crash into manned aircraft than two manned aircraft are likely to crash into each other. And the reason for that is the "pilot" of a drone does not have peripheral vision around the drone, and cannot turn his head to see in all directions the way a real pilot in a cockpit can. Nor does a drone operator have a radar screen to tell him what other objects are in the sky around his aircraft.

All a drone operator has is a two dimensional video display of whatever the camera on the drone is aimed at, which is usually a target on the ground. So situational awareness is much lower for the drone operator. He is not physically able to know what is going on in the sky around his aircraft. And if he has adjusted the field of view on the onboard camera to a very narrow one, he is even more situationally limited.

Now toss that kind of hazard into America's crowded skies, and you are asking for big trouble.
