A federal agency said missiles that could reach the U.S. are years away​

The Defense Intelligence Agency released a missile threat assessment in May 2025 that said Iran could develop a long-range missile by 2035 if it chooses to pursue it.

"The U.S. intelligence community has been making a similar assessment (that Iran might have an (intercontinental ballistic missile) in a decade) since the mid-1990s," Daryl Kimball, executive director of the Arms Control Association, told PolitiFact.

The White House did not immediately reply to PolitiFact’s request for comment about Trump’s statement that Iran could "soon" have missiles capable of reaching the U.S.

Richard Nephew, who worked for the U.S. government on Iranian issues during the Biden administration, said Iran already has missiles that can reach parts of eastern Europe.

Intercontinental ballistic missiles "are harder for Iran to achieve now and I have no reason to doubt DIA’s assessment," Nephew said. "Iran does have the ability to hit Europe and is working towards capabilities that could target the United States, but that those capabilities are still many years away."

These timelines don’t account for the possibility of other countries helping Iran develop or obtain this technology, said Michael Singh, managing director of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy. Singh worked in the U.S. government, including the White House, from 2005 to 2008.

The speed and uniformity were almost impressive.
Sen. Tim Kaine led the charge, and he did not ease into it. In a graphic posted to X, Kaine asked whether Trump was “too mentally incapacitated” to understand that the United States once had a diplomatic agreement with Iran. He declared the strikes a “colossal mistake” and demanded the Senate immediately return to vote on his War Powers Resolution to block U.S. forces from hostilities without congressional approval.

The words are sharp. The accusations are severe. And if today’s reaction is any indication, the constitutional battle over executive war powers is about to become the next front in America’s ongoing political war.

Democrats would call any new government that is pro western and promotes free enterprise and personal freedoms as corrupt. The left always supports the totalitarian solution particularly is they are hostile to Jews and Christians.
Meanwhile, Democrats never blinked when Obama ordered targeted drone strikes in the Middle East and surrounding regions, which killed four U.S. citizens in Yemen and Pakistan between 2011 and 2015. While only one, Anwar al-Alwaki, was explicitly targeted, the others, including his teenage son, were killed in strikes, causing significant legal and ethical debate over due process.
Democrats say Trump shouldn't be messing with Obama’s legacy – The pallets of cash, the Faux JCPOA all which will made Iran prosperous.
If you hadn't noticed – that explains the Democrats objections. Those are objections are what Democrats truly believe.
Unfortunately, while the current conflict is unfolding in February and March 2026, similar criticisms were leveled against Trump following an earlier round of strikes in June 2025.
Democrats have defunded DHS. Add Islamic nuclear terrorists to illegal aliens, criminals and transgender killers to the list of groups Democrats prioritize over Americans. Not to mention Obama is 100% and presidents before him are responsible for this war.
Obama specifically aided and abetted the Ayatollah’s nuclear ambitions.
