Door Dash delivery driver decides not to deliver person food because they didnt tip lol

I decided I wanted Pizza this afternoon.....Called the pizza place, placed my order, and by the time I got there it was almost ready and took it home. Maybe 15 whole minutes out of my day. Big deal.

Did you leave a tip?

.

... Crime is greater where slave wages are all that can be expected. Why seek employment if you can lift someone else's wealth instead?
I think that's where tipping is lesser. Because there is no wealth where slave wages are all that can be expected.
Where's the logic in that statement? You do realize that slave wages are being paid out by someone, yes?
I don't tip, ever. Nor do I order delivered food. And I certainly wouldn't order a delivery for mystery charges.
Nor have I ever done.
So I'd still like to know the function of tipping in such transactions.
Are you honestly asking for the function or the reason behind it?

Meh

Well the reason behind it is that black Pullman railway car workers were paid so poorly after the civil war that passengers felt obliged to contribute.

Does the tip serve the function of:

1) Adding to payment from the vendor/system.

2) Being the sole remuneration the deliverer receives.

What name would you call it?

Maybe your hearing is defected. I only said it once.

It's called a business model, no one is forced to work for them. And on occasion people won't have the money for a tip. At least the customer in the video apologized, the delivery guy was an asshole.

In a country with such high unemployment it is because of lack of work opportunities. The US is eating itself alive. It ought to be illegal for any employer to pay its people low wages to the point that tips are necessary. "Find another job", you say? Where? Americans are living in a squeeze.

That's not true, there are tons of jobs out there. People who work these types of jobs like the flexible hours. They work when they want to work.

Not that I'm aware of, but I don't use delivery services. I just pick up take out myself.

He was in NYC, right?

Cities and localities may also set higher minimums in some areas. New York City has a tipped minimum wage of $11.00, 65 cents higher than the state-mandated tipped wage. And "quick service employees" in New York State earn the same minimum wage whether they're tipped employees or not.

Maybe he's not an employee but a contractor, who doesn't advertise his rates.

I'm just glad I don't have to deal with that tipping bullshit.

To me, the people who work such a job should find another one if they are not satisfied with whatever money comes in no matter what direction that money comes to them from.

God bless you always!!!

Holly (a girl with low expectations)
I've known many who do this as a second job to supplement their "day" job.
Then there are some who include this as part of their mix of part-time jobs.

I dont use those third party delivery people. I've seen the videos about what they do to peoples food, and I've heard the horror stories about people never getting their orders and not getting refunds after drivers decided NOT to finish out their deliveries and go home or out to play.

If the deliver driver doesn't work for the company that owns the food place I'm ordering from, I don't order out.
And the way it is now.............Pizza Hut is the ONLY place I order from, because their drivers are company employees.

Otherwise, I just get my ass up and go thru the drive thru.
Yup!
The no-tip customer in the OP might have found his cheesburger a bit extra "juicy":puke3: when it was delivered.
