Donald Trump to make gas cans great again

By who democrats dont have candidate. Youre looking at 12 years of GOP rule
Regardless of whether there will another 12 years of GOP rule, I think that he touched upon something important. It seems that policies just change based on who (or which party) is in power. Somehow this just doesn't seem very good. It's kind of like laws changing based on who the lawmakers are. I feel that this is an inherent feature of multi-party democracy that we cannot escape. It's highly undesirable.

And it ruins foreign diplomacy when there is a seesaw effect on policy.

Very telling you cant name one Democrat who can win and recover the Party in 2028.
I can't think of any that are a Donald Trump either. Frankly, I don't really give a damn since they are all the ******* same.

C'mon folks,
It's well known that Americans are too stupid to know to dial 911 in a medical emergency, so how can you expect them to know how to use a gas can safely? Wouldn't it be even better if you had to pay a government stooge to come fill your lawnmower and generator anytime you needed gas? Especially if it hikes the price per gallon to $50.gal?

C'mon...this would be pure Leftist brilliance, just like those wonderful gas cap designs you speak of so fondly.

Idiots who throw gas on an open flame and do it with a gas can have sued and won on design features.

Lawsuits and design defects in gas cans
It is true that lawsuits have been filed and won against manufacturers of gas cans based on design features, particularly the lack of flame mitigation devices.
One significant design defect cited in these lawsuits is the absence of a flame arrestor. A flame arrestor, typically a small piece of mesh or a disk with holes, is designed to prevent a flame from entering the gas can by absorbing and dispersing the heat energy, thereby preventing flashback explosions. Despite the existence of this relatively inexpensive safety device, many gas cans lacked them, leading to numerous catastrophic injuries and fatalities.
For example, the Blitz gas can lawsuits involved claims that the absence of flame arrestors led to explosions and severe burns, according to SOS Injury Lawyers. Some lawsuits also alleged other defects, such as a lack of proper warnings and the absence of spill-proof spouts.
It is important to note that the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has recognized the potential for flashback explosions in gas cans and has advocated for the inclusion of flame arrestors. The CPSC noted in 2013 that flammable vapors could exist in gas containers and ignite, causing explosions. As a result, the Portable Fuel Container Safety Act of 2020 mandated flame mitigation devices in portable fuel containers, which went into effect in July 2023.
While the act of pouring gasoline onto an open flame is inherently dangerous and constitutes misuse of the product, these lawsuits highlight the argument that manufacturers have a responsibility to design products with safety features that mitigate the risks of foreseeable misuse and potential hazards. The success of these lawsuits has pushed for better safety features in gas can designs to prevent serious injuries from occurring, according to SOS Injury Lawyers.

I must be stupid too because I thought the 911 was for the po-po.

Also, I don't understand why anybody would need to use a gas can. They sound like they can be dangerous. If there is a collision, and the can gets crushed and the content comes out, it can catch fire or make the flame even bigger. It just sounds unsafe. Why can't people just fill up at the gas station? Gas stations are everywhere.

I don't get the angst about properly functioning gas cans.

Is it just because it was mentioned by Trump?

If so you people need to re-access your mental capabilities.
Gas cans are an avatar of how overbearing the feds are...They're also quite representative of how that overreach can completely **** up something as simple as a gasoline can.

But many modern designs are often infuriatingly ineffective at actually filling tanks because the vents work so poorly. Instead of stopping vapors from flowing out the complicated spouts and relief valves, instead frustrated users often cause gasoline spills, which some critics say are far worse than a tiny amount of vapor escaping from an older design.

When we had a few acres to mow I bought a new gas can because I thought it would be better and that my husband was just being cheep using old cans.
I never figured out how to use the spout on new can without spilling gas.
I bought a handful of plastic vent caps and plain spouts off of Evilbay a few years back...Drilled out the can, popped in the vent, replaced the idiotic spring loaded spout, and you have a normal gas container.

I've bought these twice. Makes my old Blitz cans so much better.

I don't know what I would do if I lost my old one, I have had for years. I guess go on ebay and try and find one. Mine is just the bottle with a spout you unsnap the cap off of. No springs or any dumb stuff like that.
The White House is trying to make gas cans fill great again.

In a July 24 letter, the EPA has asked gas can manufacturers to redesign their much-maligned products to fix a long-standing problem: "People hate 'em," said Florida-based eBay gas can reseller Steven Watt, 63. "It's all about the spout."

We don't own a gas can because I consider the car empty when the gas gauge gets down to about half full. Hubby of many decades now accepts that about me and fills up at that point.
