No it's nothing to do with tariffs....this thread is about the budget in ILL, and you claiming it had to do with the price of gas, when it in fact has to do with the hundreds of millions of new taxes and tax increases the dems are putting on the working class in Ill

It’s my thread, so I know what it’s about. In the last iteration of the budget after all the changes they were $150M short still. So, they looked at the windfall of $150M of gas taxes and swept it into the general budget.. Magic. Now they are balanced thanks to Trump gas price hikes!

Illinois lost more than 40,000 residents to other states in 2025, though the state’s population grew marginally because of nearly 45,000 international migrants coming in and roughly 11,000 more births than deaths.

Still, Illinois struggles to retain residents, ranking third-worst in the nation in residents leaving for other states.

Problem with that is that highspanics don’t flock to places like Illinois because there’s no money there. They dominate the DC area because the fed gov always has a supply of tax money.
The roofer who repaired my roof on my southern Illinois house had a half dozen highspanics working with him. That was unusual for out there. I told him he likely hired all of the highspanics in the area who don’t play for the Cardinals.

If so that is good. Near all state and local governments are required to balance their budgets. However, they can play games. The state's pension systems non funding percentages are abysmal as an example. Joe and the gang filled up the Progressive states' deficits through the stupidity of their covid actions. And of course we saw 9% inflation in one of those years.
