There's an article I've link to before in the Toronto Star about the 2016 bankruptcy of Trump Hotel Toronto, which is subtitled "How Every Investor Lost Money on Trump Tower Toronto except Donald Trump". It's the story of all Trump Bankruptcies. Trump makes more money when his projects fail, than when he actually builds something.

No, bankruptcy and settling out of court are not illegal, but they are indicative questionable business practices, and management issues. One bankruptcy is understandable. Unforeseen circumstances, bad health, sudden economic crash - any number of things. A second bankruptcy makes your management skills highly questionable, and I don't even know of any credible person who has ever been involved in running 3 companies into bankruptcy, much less 7.

Certainly settling criminal cases out of court in generally indicative of guilt, and something only available if you're extremely wealthy, and people are more interested in getting their money back than locking you up. Trump is gonna have trouble on this one. People don't care how much money he pays. They want him jailed for this attack on the nation.

Admits to bribing public officials as a matter of course in doing business, and has been fined by the IRS for making illegal campaign "contributions" from his Family Charity. Speaking of which, the charity had its charter revoke for misuse of funds, illegal fundraising, fiduciary violations. Neither Trump nor his kids are allowed to serve on the Boards of any Charities in the State of New York now or in future.
